Because of weather we ended up going to Death Valley instead. I would strongly recommend a visit (but not in the summer), it was beautiful. All worked well and very happy with the electrical. The only possible addition would be to add the Victron 712 Battery Monitor. I am not sure it is...
That is what we did. Added the extra stand but it wasn't enough and upgraded the original to the XO. Spent some extra money for the black one. Thank you to YYCRod for sharing pictures of his set up so as to figure out where to drill the holes.
I went just the opposite. I bought the extended version because i carry a spare tire in the back and realize the extension is on the trailer side, not the jeep side. It was not going to allow me to open the back door and sent it back and got the shorty.
I agree with jojackc. It is worth the time to read over all the pages. A lot of posts will not be relevant to you so you can go though it relatively fast by just reading 15 to 20 pages at a time. I would recommend to keep notes or an index of the pages you are interested in and sort them by...
Before you get going, let me share a couple of challenges we had.
1. 10 gallons may not be enough. Hoologan mentioned he found a 17x17 water tank. I saw the same one but the price difference was so big for the additional 2 gallons I decided on the 10 gallon tank. If I had to do it again, I...
Water project done. The basis of the project came mostly from RWB_Runner post way back on page 9 of this thread.
From Smittybilt representive! The original design was in front of the trailing arms. It hung too low and added some tongue weigh, which I didnt like. It was just over 15 gallons. …...
I emailed Matt from SB (who has always been very helpful in the past) and he sent me the instructions that should have been packed with the reinforcement brackets.
It is the Tuff Stuff Elite Overland RTT and Annex. We were pleasantly surprise how much room it had. We are two adults, two 7 year olds and a 75 lb German Shepherd. More than enough room even though the dog insists on laying on us. Full disclosure we won a raffle for the smaller tent at a...
It is the XO from ARK (there is thread on that product also). Looks like a great product but runs about $250 to $300. Great, If you needed to drag the trailer out of some real ugly terrain (see their videos), but for our missions/trips that would be an extreme and unlikely scenario. Still...
Small modification that we finished up today. We were camping one night and really felt the wind and kept thinking of the front jack on a wheel. It is probably overkill but it just gives us more peace of mind and added stability. We had a local welder put on the ring and bought the jack from...
I have 37 AEV 5x5 tires and got 2 inch lug centric wheel spacers. I got them from US Wheel Adapters for about $100. Made sure to use loctite and the proper torque and recheck after a couple hundred miles. No problems, all good.
I agree that is why i have the RVi towed battery charger. You can see it in the picture. But it is not a robust charger like the Redarc. From my reading and research an upgrade to the wiring would be needed to fully take advantage of that type of charger. This was an easy and simple addition for...
