Well, I've been using Autolites for 20+ years in everything and never had a problem. This is still baffling me but I haven't been able to do anything to it in a couple days. My other job is keeping me busy.

Plugs are Autolite double platinums. The wires are Belden, I think. Could be Borg Warner. They weren't cheap. I'm not sure how the plugs couldn't be grounded.

But what about the weird coil thing? And the rod protrusion spec?

So weird. When I have #1 and #3 plug wires plugged into the coil normally, no spark. When I pull them out and hold them just inside where the conductor goes in, I begin to get spark. What the heck is going on here? I plug them back in, spark goes away. I pulled it down to the timing belt again...
