Not worried about the carrier or shafts. Just the ring gear diameter. From what I can tell 9" had 10 bolts and 9.5" had 12 bolts mounting then center section to the housing, but want to confirm before I rip it out

You mean shaft spline ? Can a 9.5 have 31 spline or 28? I'm looking at a 2000 sport (need the r&p) I know it's 4.90. But it's a 3.0 I can't remember the spline for sure but I think 31. The best I can tell the center looks the same as the 9.5 I have (12 bolt) mounting the chunk to the housing

I've searched everywhere I can think of: do the rear 9" and 9.5" share the same center section? I.e. 12 bolts to the housing? Is there another way to visually determine which one? The dealer was not able to confirm.
