I looked at a Scout. The extra legal useful load would have been nice but the price was a fair bit higher and the plane wasn’t in anywhere near as good condition.
I don’t see how it would be an alternative to a Garmin GPS. The internet connection can let you access more maps and information without planning ahead to download at home but it’s not exactly portable and would require extra devices and power sources to be a usable navigation aid.
Not a great picture but oh well. Citabria 7GCBC with nice low hours on a frame up rebuild and total overhaul O320. Figure I’ll put some work in on pavement this winter with the current tires and then put some 26” or 29” bushwheels on in the spring for getting out and around on. The engine cover...
Not that one, but a different one. Waiting on the weather to clear up enough for a flight from Willow back up to Fairbanks. I’ll post pictures once I get it home.
I’m really struggling with being a financially responsible adult and not going out and dropping $100k on this Scout that’s for sale locally. It’s definitely overkill but being able to put me, my girlfriend, 180lbs of baggage and four hours of gas in it before hitting gross weight would be pretty...

Just around Fairbanks. The take off and flying isn’t too much different than what I was used to years ago but the landing is definitely something to adjust to.
Knocked out a few hours in a super cub working on the tail wheel endorsement. For not having flown fixed wing in 19 years it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. Definitely different flying a plane that small and light when you’re used to something ten times heavier with 25 times the horsepower.
