Yep. Not exactly apples to apples (nice trim adds a lot of weight) but my ‘18 2500 diesel Laramie had a 1950lb payload and my ‘22 3500 diesel Tradesman has a 4250lb payload.
Just around Fairbanks. The take off and flying isn’t too much different than what I was used to years ago but the landing is definitely something to adjust to.
Knocked out a few hours in a super cub working on the tail wheel endorsement. For not having flown fixed wing in 19 years it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. Definitely different flying a plane that small and light when you’re used to something ten times heavier with 25 times the horsepower.
A bit of both. A lot of campground plugs are not rated for a continuous high (32-40amp) draw for an EV changing as opposed to powering a camper AC unit or two. Some are wired so that multiple sites share a breaker that isn’t rated to the full capacity of all sites simultaneously. There’s also...
That varies depending on campground. Some let you do it and don’t care, some let you do it but charge a fee for the extra electricity used, some don’t allow it at all.
Doesn’t sound so bad. I just flew there a few days ago and will be back up through again today if weather in the pass holds out. Looks like fun flying those little birds around.
I need to get off my ass and buy a bush plane so I can get out to some of the remote cabins in Wrangell-St Elias.
Not a full bumper and might need a different winch but maybe an option?

Right now a Starlink Mini ($299 in US) and its service ($10/month 10GB) is cheaper than a good quality radio and antenna and arguably far more useful in more situations. I’d still go with an Inreach or PLB for emergency use over either option.
