Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

I highly doubt it - we are currently in the middle of an international move. I will ask her, but I think it’s unlikely.

[10/23 Update] $64k - 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, AluCab Canopy Camper, fully custom interior

So, to answer a few of the questions I've received here and on other forums: Traveling with a dog: A small(ish) dog is probably okay with you in the camper, maybe up to the size and agility of a border collie. I would not recommend using this rig with a larger dog, since the interior is...

    Freedom Camping in NZ

Hi folks, we are traveling to NZ in December and have rented a camper. The camper is certified self contained (green sticker). Now, I'm trying to find out where I can actually camp with this. My first understanding is "everywhere, unless it's restricted or prohibited", either by DOC or by...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Why not use one of the battery operated ones? Might be easier. I wouldn’t want the inverter to run for this since sometimes it kicks in the relatively loud fan.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

I see. For us in the CA desert it was good enough to open the roof at the end of the day and open all the canvas, leaving mosquito netting in place. In the roof, a vent doesn't make sense since the bed platform will be in the way of venting. That leaves the front towards the truck cabin if you...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

No question about it! What has driven us inside mostly were wasps and cold conditions in the evening. My wife is currently building a super lightweight "mosquito cube" that can be attached to the awning in maybe a minute or so with "tent toggles" and either fabric loops or plastic rings...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Oh, and I love this comment. It was also one of our desires to get to this point that everything we do regularly can be done quickly and easily. Open roof, deploy awning, turn on inverter, pull out electric kettle and plug in, fill with water, get going ... 90 seconds sounds about right ...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

That's 100% accurate. 40 series is waaaayyyy overkill for an interior build. We are using 25 series (same size as 10 series, just metric). All the 80/20 visible in my photos is 25 series. Most of the wood visible is either 6mm or 9mm Baltic Birch. So, it's surprisingly light. No, it's not really...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

I like this idea with the extrusion. Opens options in terms of usable hardware. How long have you had this on? I used black 80/20 40-series for roof rack components a few years ago and after about a year, they had turned pink from UV exposure. Let's hope your hardware has better anodizing! For...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Hey, yes, you are right, the backdoor has been a recent project. We started with planning a few weeks ago and have been slowly working our way through the various items. From the "bracket screenshot" above, the right two are for mounting Rotopax or similar items to the outside of the rear...
