Yes, the Hammer hangers alone make a noticeable difference. On my Double cab with stock springs I was shocked at how much it improved the ride.
The stock hangers are like bolting a leaf spring to another spring.
The difference is most noticeable over harsh bumps that cause high speed...
A huge issue is the flimsy stock hangers on 2005-2018 Tacomas.
Archive Garage has addressed the issue with the Hammer hangers and the optional cross tube to tie the Hammer hangers, and by extension, the frame rails together. The system gives a big improvement in ride quality, the HH being the...
Great pics, thanks for the update. So you had the Cooper ST's and now the ST Maxx, do they perform well enough in gnarly offroad situations? I have the 255/80-17 on my Tacoma
I asked Jeff at Deaver for 1.5" lift with 500lbs in bed on Addison's springs, which should have basically been a beefed up G57, so I don't know why its so low, but we are working on figuring it out
Thank you Addison for the review and testing this kit out with some hard kms. I am now taking orders for approximate August 1st ship date (not in stock yet)
I do not yet offer shackles for 1st gen Tacomas but someone could twist my arm.
Post#98^^ Mike, I think you are right with this info, but I think I can add a little. I would guess the stock springs are a high spring rate, with low arch, probably for load capacity to keep the sag/pound ratio low as it gets loaded. This compromises wheel travel, both up travel and droop...
Great, thank you. I know that the center to center distance from front hanger bolt hole to shackle hanger pivot hole is 59.5". Given that info, the stock shackle should lay pretty flat at droop.
You might be right that a shackle flip may not help much with the same length or stock shackle. I'm happy with being honest about the facts on this, I guess we can wait and see in a few weeks or so, Addison's kit is en route. Member Cam-shaft on his 2005 Tacoma stated he got better droop...
For anyone looking to replace the stock 00-06 Tundra leaf spring or shackle bushings, I discovered while doing some R&D, that the shackle bushings are the same EXACT physical dimensions of the leaf spring eye bushings, but far more expensive.
I can't say whether the rubber is a different...
Nice Tacoma, that will get you through serious terrain. I like that v6 engine, decent torque at 220 lb-ft, and I've read it truly is a non-interference engine and the timing belt is robust as it is.
I just looked at a 1998 1st gen last week but the frame was toast, ended up buying a Jeep...
