    The Resurrection of Monty

Nwoods- I love the Quadra-drive II system! The automatic lockers are great. But I find myself running out of gas just when the fun begins. I live in Utah and love to explore new sites and far away places. Unfortunately, the 40 to 50 miles more that I get with the Monty makes a big difference in...

    The Resurrection of Monty

Some of you might remember me from a few years back. My 2005 Mitsubishi Montero had the dreaded piston killer issue where one of the butterfly valves on the intake manifold fell inside the engine causing catastrophic damage to the engine’s internals. Unfortunately, due to the scarcity of 3rd...

    Its been a while

CharlieNorth, this is a quote from the first page of the thread. Its been a while since I started this thread. In the end I purchased a 08 Jeep Commander w/ Quadradrive II System and 3rd row with 150,000 miles for $4500. Getting a new engine for Monty just didn't make sense to me right now. In...

RyanT, thank you for your response. There is definitely valve damaged at the very least. A piece of the butterfly valve went in with the screws - Also the butterfly valve itself is bent at most of the edges, and has sustained some heavy damage. I have not removed the head, to observe, but I...

Here is a picture of the accident. And yes... I was backing out of my drive way when she hit me. Bent bed, cracked cab, and bent frame. Totaled.

Thank you both for your responses and regards for me. I was not injured much at all, thank goodness. But unfortunately the Taco took a heavy hit. Thanks for the advice on the WK, I have played with the idea of owning some kind of Jeep again since I've had 2 in the past, but my last experience...

    Its been a while

Alright, 2 years ago Monty (2005 Montero Limited) had the dreaded butterfly valve fall into the valve train. I was able to recover the butterfly, but the screws probably made it into the engine, it sucked and Monty has been dormant ever since. Bought a Toyota Tacoma and moved to the Toyota side...

    Let's talk lifts (2013 Tacoma)

Redthies, Congrats on getting back to a Toyota, do you like being back on a Tacoma? I hear a lot of people saying that the older truck were the real Tacomas, and that now they are all made in mexico and they are not as good? what do you think about that? Thanks for your input. Let me also...

    Let's talk lifts (2013 Tacoma)

This was near Springville Canyon. Is a mining trail I like taking up to the old salt mine. Pretty tame, but some technical obstacles for sure.

    Let's talk lifts (2013 Tacoma)

I went out on the trail again with my kids today and enjoyed some good time outdoors. The truck did great. However, there was a creek that I wanted to cross, but stopped myself from doing so, because of fears of hydro locking my engine?. It didn't seem too high though, probably 18 inches or so...
