I am heading to Michigan from Indiana, will be coming up Thursday the 8th. Not sure where we are going yet, we will be Van/moto camping with dual sports. Are these routes good for moto travel?
Hi,
I have a high roof extended 2016 Ford Transit and thus far I have put right at 38k miles on it. It has a 3.7 with 4.11 rear end. The best mpg was 22 driving across Missouri & Illinois west to east on US 36. I dove 55 the whole tank.
On on the 3600 mile trip to Colorado/Utah from Indiana...
Hi Kevin,
I see you have a 78 fj45, I have a 65 fj45. It is slowly coming back together.
My van is gas and because I sense the diesel heaters are less problematic, I am going diesel.

Hi All,
I am thinking about purchasing a Planar 2D heater from these guys.
Has anyone dealt with them?
Is the 2D heater large enough for a high top extended that has floor, ceiling, and some sidewall insulation. I am thinking down to zero F.
I am questing there would be no warranty with...
The tires that were cut on the Alpine Loop were not aired down. The cut/puncture happened on the 2wd part of the loop. Someone said it comes from the graders knocking off the tops of exposed rocks creating fresh sharp edges which would make sense.
Hi,
For what it's worth. A friend with a full size Dodge PU lost 2 tires on the Alpine loop back in 2010. One was flat before we even got to Animas Forks, the second happened on the road to Lake City. We had to throw the tires, and 4 kids in my Tacoma DC (E rated Generals) and drove into Lake...
Wow, It looks great. Have you had a chance to get a weight on it.
I am thinking of something similar but a hard sided version. I have removed my bed and tailgate from my 03 DC so I could properly scrape/blast the frame and repaint with chasse saver. While I had the bed off I weighed it on...
To keep down the weight I am planning something simple like Goober built. The actual construction would be a skin of 1/4" birch plywood, 2" foam with 3/8 birch plywood stiffeners and 1/8" luan interior, a kind of torsion box construction. I am going to take off the bed of my truck(saves 200lbs)...
HI,
I am contemplating a hard-side for my DC Tacoma, a custom build like the one the guy built on a Tacoma not long ago, but how much does it limit where you can go? Would the Maze or the Alpine loop trash the camper, how about the White Rim?

Cool job. What type and thickness of ply wood did you use. It looks like pine 1/4" & I/8 luan. Did you look at birch plywood and decide against it or was the thought pine all along?
Thanks
