Yeah. I have certainly read that is the preferred solution but we tend to only boondock a day or two. If we stay somewhere longer we use the jackery and plug that into the 110 system of the ambo. With the efficiency of the Jackeries and similar batteries it almost isn't needed to have a built in...
@Bikersmurf - did you also ditch the emergency start solenoid and use the ACR switch for that purpose? Seems it serves the same purpose with updated technology.

So for anyone running something that has old 2000 era Whelen halogen lights, the G4 does not fit. Not wide enough nor are the pins long enough. It is possible they could be adapted with some soldering and other mods but I don't wanna mess up a $50 halogen.
