    Watches.......the other type!

This was in a batch of old stuff in my mother's house - may have been from my grandmother on my father's side but I have no idea for sure. Could be a fake that my mom picked up in her travels. My grandfather had a 1954 Rolex Turn-O-Graph that I inherited and will pass down to my nephew so his...

    Watches.......the other type!

Ramblin Chet has hit the nail on the head with the Doxa - a dream watch for me - a friend of mine has one his father gave him many years ago and I remember drooling over a display case with a Doxa dive watch back in the late 1960's. I have a couple of gold pocket watches dating to 1873-1884 and...

    Front Runner Expander Chair Review

Last year I was introduced to a new chair by a friend at a Land Rover event - it looked comfortable and so I asked to try it out. It was very nice but then Jeff (with an evil glint in his eye) said - "It reclines!" I ordered one as soon as I got home - The Drifta Stockton camping chair beats...

    Garmin Overlander options discontinue

Garmin has a long history of introducing new products and abandoning them a year or two later. I was suckered into buying a Monterra which they promptly discontinued less than a year later. The only Garmin product I use now is their GLO antenna which will connect via bluetooth to my Samsung tablet.

Range Rover Classic at the 30th Amelia Show

My Defender 90 was supposed to be part of the Cars and Community event on Saturday but since that event was canceled so they could move the Concours forward a day it didn't make it on the show field.

10L "Jerry can", 11L Dometic "Go Hydration" or Rotopax for water?

I've been using the 5 gallon Sceptre water can for years with great success but lots of times I have found for weekend trips I don't need to carry that much water. I ordered a Sceptre 2.5 gallon water can (green) from Amazon for $37 which will work out well for me since it will fit in exactly...

New To Us D5: Impressions and Comparisons to LR3

I went from an LR3 (great truck) to the D5 to the D110 which is our daily driver and all around transportation appliance. The thing that bugged me most about the D5 was the rear hatch - I much preferred the lift gate/tail gate of the LR3. I saw an artist rendering of a design study for the D5...

New To Us D5: Impressions and Comparisons to LR3

I had a 2017 D5 diesel with all of the off road goodies and it proved to be extremely capable off road and a great road trip car with great range. At one of our off road events in North Georgia there was a trail that approached a steep, rocky hill climb through a stream bed full of slick black...

    budget performance cars

A 1970 Porsche 911S had 180 HP and weighed around 2300 LBS - undisputed performance car - right? My 2019 Miata has 181 HP and weighs 2346 LBS - it has Brembo brakes and better suspension than the 911, really good air conditioning and heated seats so you can comfortably drive with the top down in...

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

My 1967 Series IIA 88" project is wearing some new BFG 7.5R16 KM3 mud terrains - tall and skinny "Pizza Cutters" - the perfect size for an old Land Rover (some assembly required). The goal is to have it running and driving by next Spring. Engine has been balanced and blueprinted, transmission...
