This is looking like a descent solution without reinventing the wheel too much. So I guess I replace Garmin's Topo for Delorme's, if this is going to give me "live" tracking when I am off payment.
Still not clear how running a USB powered GPS like you and others have mentioned, coupled with my current topo 8 will give me a live coverage? I feel I am still missing the software piece that Nroute used to provide me....
OK I am starting to get the gps puck idea/set up. Once I load up Garmin Topo on my acer netbook, how do I get "live" navigation coverage which is what Nroute used to provide?
Lastly at RadioShack you can get the Igo netbook inverter for around $50 which gives you a 12vdc plug, wall plug and...
So recently I have purchased a Netbook (to replace my aging laptop) with enough power to really substitute my old Acer laptop which has Garmin Topo 8 and Nroute that i link up with my hand held Garmin Etrex Vista for navigating off pavement and was really satisfied with that set up, down to the...
I know there is another threat out there regarding the EdgeStar 12V fridge. It just grew to large with content for both those who are thinking about buying, or feedback from those who have bought it, and mods as well.
Perhaps this thread can be only for providing upgrade Mods to the Edgestar...
I built my mule with a budget in mind, and the good thing of having taken my time, it allowed me the time needed to research about less expensive options than the top brands out there in every category (winches, sliders, etc.) I bought the Edgestar fridge last year right before a baja trip and...
I say get a 95-97 80 series, don't worry about lockers, just get the cleanest one with the biggest PM history. With luck, you will grow an appreciation of how reliable it will be, and you will learn to work on it yourself. Once you get the mods tacked on, it will be far more unique than most...
Just saw the original posting date....
What did you end up buying?
What drove me to a Land Cruiser was a 98 grand Cherokee limited with all the bells and whistles. very comfortable ride, plenty of oomph. properly maintained, than the engine blew a rod 8K miles after the extended warranty ran...
I finally took pics for the dual battery install. This is a basic manual system, that does not include a solenoid. the marine switch determines if I charge my main battery (1) or both (1 and 2.) When I was camping in Baja I would put the switch to the 2 position which is the auxiliary battery...
Not sure I understand your question. Are you asking me to identifiy to pics that were taken on that trail? or do you want to know the location of the trail where the pictures show?
You can read aobut it in my blog where I talk about this trail leading to Mike's Sky Ranch and starting near El...
