I am from the West Cost of the USA but currently live on the West Coast of Australia.
I drive a 1984 UNIMOG U1300/L37 Mega cab that has been rebuilt from the ground up. The truck started its life in Germany as a fire truck and took 2 years to finish building up once it got to Australia.
Here are some highlights of the truck!
- Upgraded 366a engine with intercooler and injector mods
- Upgraded portal axles (form a Dingo Troop carrier) that have CTIS and bring the GVM to 10.6T
- U1700 springs
- large 425/75R20 AG style tires with a spare
- Tire pressure and tire temperature monitoring system
- Front 18,000lb hydraulic winch
- Rear 18,000lb electric winch
- Upgraded Headlights
- More LED lights that you could shake a stick at
- Custom flat tray with container locks to hold the camper body
- Custom bar work around the truck and camper body
- Custom front and rear bumpers
- Custom Aluminium tool box on one side and slide out BBQ/kitchen on the other
- Air compressor quick connect fittings around the truck to access air
- DVD/GPS unit with HEMA offroad mapping and reverse camera wired in
- 6 x 6x9 speakers in the cab
- 9000w inverter and 70amp charger to run 150ah stick welder for repairs and or charge things as needed
- upgraded alternator
- 3 x 120Ah AGM batteries
- 2 x Air Con units (one from of cab, one rear of cab)
- 2 x 150L HDPE potable water tanks build up under the rear of the tray
