Sorry to hear you've been waiting that long @RoamIt . We're afraid of this happening to us as well. It's easy to get stuck like this in US. Hoping your parts come soon. A complete system rebuild sounds like a big project but is sometimes necessary with these trucks!
@Iain_U1250 Invaluable advice, thank you for sharing all of your spares! It is incredibly helpful to hear what you carry from years of experience. We'll look into these parts as we build our kit. We have a few of the things you mentioned already so that gives us confidence that we're on the...
Thank you for the advice @Neil ! We truly appreciate your input on this. The oil seals are good idea and you're right, they take up little space and could save a lot of headache.
Hello EP forum!
My question is for current or past Unimog owners.
We own a 1987 Unimog 1300L (OM366A) ex German military camper that is in very good condition. We'll be moving into the truck full time and taking off to travel the US/Canada/Mexico for a year or more. So far, no issues with the...
Appreciate you sharing your experience. I like that it doesn't need power to operate. All the (fairly new) technology surrounding LED UV filters has my head spinning as I research. The Seagull eliminates that analysis headache haha.
Does anyone have an opinion on this filter: https://www.aquastardistributors.com/product/seagull-iv-x-2kb/
Found it on http://dinoevo.de/fresh-water-system/ from another thread. Looks to be incredibly robust but quite expensive. The filters also need to be changed every 2,000gal vs 1,000gal...
You're right about that! There's a lot of other factors with the various types of hardware to consider as well. Do you have any experience with the lightweight Poplar ply that was mentioned above? https://www.garnica.one/en-us/plywood-boards/range/efficiency/efficiency-poplar.html
It seems very...
This is very intriguing, thanks for sharing this! It looks like a shop near me carries this as well. After reading everyone's thoughts here I'm thinking plywood might be the way to go and finding a lightweight ply is ideal.
I appreciate you sharing your experience. The hassle of the newer products might not actually be worth it in the end! If you're considering going back to ply then it might be worth us to just stick with the old standard!
Thanks for sharing your expertise! I was starting to wonder how much I would actually save in time/money/weight by going with one of these less common but lightweight materials. I will definitely spend more time in doing something I haven't done before. In the end it doesn't have to be...
Hello!
We are beginning our Unimog camper build which has a composite box on the back. The composite box was our first foray into the world of composites and it now has me thinking about our cabinet construction. I can weld and was planning on welding together aluminum angle and skinning it with...
