The main question is.
Are you having trouble with brake force in general? Not being able to hold on a steep grade, or not being able to hit at least 0.7G braking acceleration for example.
OR
Are you having trouble with brake fade? Braking force drops as the brakes get hot. Such as a long...
Ceramic pads on their own won't necessarily improve braking though. And not all pads using the same material are equal. There are a huge range of pad materials, hence using the friction rating system is the most accurate way to determine changes.
15% better in what way though? Are you...
Good info, thanks for posting.
I had a brief email conversation with Ridge Rock, and they gave me a rough estimate of $35k. I believe my original request was to include super singles, and possible a front locker. I asked for more photos, as there is very few technical ones available. And...
I am not super familiar with commercial/truck brake materials. Most pads/shoes for vehicles in the USA use the SAE two letter code system (via SAE J866 spec). The first is the cold friction, the second is the hot friction.
So a DG code pad would have 0.15-0.25 friction at temps between...
I appreciate the feedback. As mentioned I have some budget constraints. So while quite nice, the EarthCruiser CORE isn't an option at this point, priced at $140K+ for a chassis. Combined with a box and fit-out, total outlay would be $250k+ It also is likely more capability than I need. Of...
A really quick sketch/model on the 132" WB. 37" tires and a 3" lift. Obviously that is the most recent body style, as that was what I could find in a brief search. 15ft interior box is a bit excessive, but a place to start. 22.5' overall length is a bit more than I want.
Greetings,
The wife and I have done a fair bit of overland travel over the years (Aus, NZ, Central America). Started in a tiny VW camper, currently in a 140WB T1N MB sprinter. The sprinter has has served us well for the last 10 years. The buildout and drivetrain are mostly custom at this...
Hello folks. It's been a while (over three years!) since I posted any updates.
We have been working to build up funds for our retirement and next long term adventure. Most of the happenings with the van are posted over here. https://sprinter-source.com/forums/index.php?threads/41215/page-63...
It has been a hot minute. I replaced the unit in this thread with one made from a Midea-U inverter mini split. The new unit is much quieter, and a fair bit more efficient. See from post 1034 in the thread below.

X2, for most applications an drop in LFP battery is superior.
My Lifeline pack was replaced with a larger (capacity) LFP pack almost 3 years ago, and I haven't looked back.
If you are killing lead acid batteries quickly, you likely need to address your charging regime. Lead acid does not...
Can you point me to the testing in question? I looked up that particular test, and it appears to involve a rotating bearing assembly which is intermittently sprayed with water. At first glance I am not sure how representative it is of a static electrical application. If I have some time I...
I understand the general advice, and its good. However I contacted the MG chemicals support, and they indicated this product is fine for use in this application. I can also confirm that it does reduce contact resistance for connections like this (have have measured on two packs compared to...
