Gen 3 2002 Montero head gasket

Glad to hear everything went well. I did my last timing job in 2020 during a work furlough. Spent 3 stressful days working in the driveway under canopies because of unexpected rain after the first day.

Good luck, hope it all goes well! If you get stuck, refer to the FSM. Youtube also helps, but sometimes you need to search Pajero to get more info from the Aussie owners.

Gen 3 2002 Montero head gasket

Others may have some insight as well. I did my timing ~6 years ago, so it has been awhile. I used RockAuto and PartSouq for these parts. Denso is usually OEM for sensors, but PartSouq carries a lot of OEM parts. Most people recommended OEM for Cam/Crank sensors to swap while you're in there. I...

    2004 Montero

Depends one why you want the bumper. It is one of the few available units for these. As extra protection it is good, but these are strong vehicles. For light mounting, I just drilled into the space in front of the grill. There's a couple spots with metal underneath. For a winch mounting...

    2003 Mitsubishi Montero LTD P0300 Random Misfire & P0660

These engines are known to have some valvetrain noise, but it wouldn't hurt to replace the valve adjusters if priming doesn't work. There is a tool to do this on the Mitsubishi engines without removing the valve springs...

    Opinions please

As much as I love my Monteros, the engines were always their weak spot. Needed to be a little more reliable and a few less gremlins to deal with. The frame and running gear are usually great. A common option is engine swap. Maybe not something more desirable, but maybe a manual swap could be...

2001 Mitsubishi Montero Limited -- Build Thread

I will note that using any hub rings reportedly causes some vibration in Gen 3s. Would also be good to double check the CV boots on your axles for any tears or issues.

2001 Mitsubishi Montero Limited -- Build Thread

Great story. The best sources I've found for parts are Luso Overland, Adventure Driven Design, RockAuto (Denso is usually OEM), and PartSouq. Offroad parts can be found at Rocky-Road.com. Their rock sliders are bolt on units. The dealerships have long forgotten how to work on these so the...

    Montero Pajero Shogun Gen 4

You'll find several guys in the Pajero forums from Australia. They still got the Gen 4 while the US doesn't have any experience past the Gen 3. As I understand it, they are extremely similar mechanically.

    Workshop manual - 2007 Canter FG649 Australia

There may be ones in mitsubishilinks, but those are usually just the passenger vehicles. Someone in the heavy truck group may have more info. https://forum.expeditionportal.com/forums/japanese-heavy-truck-mitsubishi-and-isuzu.72/

Wheels and caps look great. Grab an FSM if you haven't already.

    Gen 3 A/C issues

That's great news. I've had issues with AC going off during an overheat, did not think to check that since you didn't mention issues with engine temp on the display. Mine was caused by leaking oring behind the water pump draining coolant into the valley. Luckily Mitsubishi added those 2 bleed...

1990 Montero M/T fuse #4 blows when put in reverse.

The switch could have an internal failure to ground through the housing. Hopefully a new switch solves your problem.

    Gen 3 A/C issues

Does your vehicle have the automatic AC controls? My 05 Limited has an auto AC setting which will control the temperature of the air to reach a set temperature like a thermostat in the house. It doesn't just control fan speed. That could be the controller the FSM mentions. That also would be...

2005 Gen 3 Montero (Pajero) Overland Build

If you are unlucky with smooth head stud removal, PartSouq looks like they have new OEM ones in stock for $1.93 each.
