Thanks a lot for the trip report! We are planning the same thing, actually, and for the same reasons as well (Syria etc.). Only, we have to wait a little bit until we're able to start. Our plan is to go in July 2015 ... and we have a complete year for the trip. We're going to have our Land Rover...
