    Subarctic ambulance

I got a shelf built for the little propane bottle. There were some channels which take strut nuts already installed on the side of the compartment, so I got a couple of shelf brackets and bolted them in, then screwed down to them one of the old shelves I pulled out earlier. I can reach into the...

Does anyone make winter fronts for '94 era E350s?

As the title says, I'd like to get a winter front for my '94. The outfit up in Fairbanks that used to do custom work is out of business, and I'm not sure where to look now. Does anyone have any leads?

I got a propane cooktop installed in the counter on the drivers side. It protrudes into the storage box below, and I'll mount the propane tank in the front, tall storage compartment, since there's already a little hand hole/door there to let us reach through and turn the propane on and off. I...

Pinion leak and play - Dana 70 Dually - '97 Crestline Ambulance.

I should get under my ambulance and try to wiggle the driveline.

If it destroys itself 600 miles from home, will you be able to handle it? If it's a handleable problem, go for it! Check the oil level at least daily, that seal won't get better as you drive. I've destroyed a Subaru rear differential by not checking quite often enough.

"all of the school bus wiring is a nightmare." I get it. I'm not looking forward to stripping out the ambulance wiring from my machine.

It does sound like time to rebuild the differential.

I installed a new, much larger transmission cooler with a thermal bypass. If it works as advertised, I should get much more cooling in the summer, and keep more heat in the transmission in the winter. I had to pull the grill and grill support, and had to notch one of the steel vertical supports...

    E-350 box options

Could you find an ambulance box from the junkyard? They don't have the RV features, but do have rear barn doors, and are all aluminum, and stout.

Thanks for walking us through the transmission swap. If my e4od gives out, I'll likely do that in my diesel '94.

I have gotten a Camplux two burner cooktop, and I plan to set it into the left side counter, which will mean cutting a big hole in the top of the middle left side compartment. The propane bottle can go in the upper part of the front left compartment, accessible from outside and also through a...

Earlier I was asking about replacement window track for the sliding doors in the aft, left cabinet. I never found anything like the fuzzy-coated soft aluminum channel, so I eventually gave in and got some cheapie plastic cabinet door track from Amazon. The plexiglass doors are 3/16", and the...

    Subarctic ambulance

I've made a very little progress on this project. I've gotten that divided queen mattress I wanted. I had to have the two halves custom made, but I have them now. My daughter and son in law borrowed it shortly after the mattress arrived, and overnighted at Mt. McKinley. They did that right about...
