    Litium batteries for winching

Thank you. Very similar end result to my current train of thought. For the amount it "might" get used for (assuming I don't do something stupid!!!) I've come to the following conclusions: 1. Swapping out the starter battery for Lithium and all that goes with being able to charge from a...

    Litium batteries for winching

Thanks all for the replies. Winch is a 12000lb champion, front bumper mounted for vehicle recovery. Used very little - and as said above - used more often for pulling others out than self recovery. Current starter battery is charged by a standard alternator, so if I were to go lithium, a B2B...

    Litium batteries for winching

Just in the process of a re-vamp of my battery set up and have changed my house batteries over to lithium (2x 100Ahr Renogy). My starting battery is a 110Ahr lead acid. My winch is powered by the house batteries, but now thinking I need to power it from the main starter battery, due to the...

    Mains/Batt to Batt/Solar charging

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm sticking with the kit he has at the moment, and will rewire with correctly sized cabling and put a change over relay in to auto switch which charging source is to be used by using the trigger signal from the alternator.

    Mains/Batt to Batt/Solar charging

The vehicle is an ex MOD DAF 4x4 10,800kg flatbed. The box body is a demountable comms body which has been converted for living. Mixture of 12vdc and 240Vac equipment (water system, 3 way fridge, LED lights, TV, shower and toilet) in the comms body and the main vehicle retains it's original...

    Mains/Batt to Batt/Solar charging

@john61ct Many thanks for your reply. Hmm, not sure, but I guess the battery will smooth any difference. Just don't like the idea of a back feed to the charger with the lower voltage. 24v starting/main battery + 12v house/auxiliary batteries. The original vehicle is 24v, so all native...

    Mains/Batt to Batt/Solar charging

Hmm, a possibility. Just working with what's there at the moment. If I can come up with a more efficient system, I'm sure he'll spend the money.

    Mains/Batt to Batt/Solar charging

Been working on a friends overland Daf 4x4 this bank holiday weekend. The Daf is 24v, the main vehicle battery is a bank of 2 x 24v. I've had to strip out a lot of wiring due to poor design and installation causing a few problems, but now getting close to rebuilding. The battery to battery...

Solar panel connections with split charge - a couple of questions

I already have a split charge system the uses a voltage sensing solenoid to auto connect when the starting battery voltage passes above a threshold, the controller for the solenoid also gives me the ability to manually connect the starting and houshold batteries if needed. (I have a Tmax split...
