Closest do it all right right now is the Ford Ranger. High payload with 2.3, decent with 2.7, and still ok as raptor.

I disagree on the orphan thing...all models become orphans. They no longer make the ford 5.4, the 1st gen 4runner doesn't share parts with the 6th gen etc. NVs are the best deal overall but harder to find. Share lots of parts with the XD. Overall depending on budget I would go GMC for more...

Had the itch for a daily/project that's a bit more nimble than my Titan XD so picked up this one owner 135k mile 2004 Montero. Planning fairly mild build mainly focused on keeping it on the road.

Towed home a new daily driver for my wife. The Titan XD is a fantastic tow vehicle, super stable, plenty of power and torque.

Just leave it alone and take a tent. That's what it's all about....going outside. The mods are fun but most of the time unnecessary and have tradeoffs that harm the bulk of what the vehicle is used for the other 300 days of the year.

Marketing. You can still get an ARB bumper and Icon suspension. What else do you need?
