Not for everyone, but we have found these work extremely well in our camper. We move them around as needed, but typically its just twisting the angle of the head. They are dimmable, and rechargeable. I have USB ports in my interior build and I have a few that are just permanently plugged into...
The tank cap is accessible in the wheel well, I have a 5 gallon diesel tank that I fill up at the pump and then I use it to fill the 5kw which I now use to heat my garage; and the 2kw tank for the truck. I use a ball check valve syphon hose and it takes about 2 minutes to transfer. I find that...
My heater setup looked similar. I did a lavaner pro alpine 5kw externally in a pelican style case and hauled it around. I found that on my Tundra the back corner of the truck bed was cavernous underneath and I ended up mounting a 4 gallon aluminum tank on the left side. On the passenger side...
I have one of these panels on my roof and I used 1/8" camper mounting foam adhered to the back at 6" intervals for a small amount of standoff from the roof skin and then I eternabonded the front and back and a strip on the side. It's holding up well. I do think I lose some efficiency from heat...
Things we are very happy we did (as a result of going over this thread in great detail and seeing them at Expo West):
1. Barn doors (halves) and having the first door opening on the passenger side instead of drivers.
2. Hatches on both sides. I passed on several used OVRNLD setups because...
I took your idea on the unistrut and added a little spin on it - a full length bungee cord. Wanted to share as it is solving quite a few issues for us; namely a simple curtain/clothes drying spot over the front window, and ability to clock and slide items.
Harbor freight had a sale on these...
I'm with you on this. I climbed all over the various campers when we were at expo west in bad weather last year. Several things stood out about the Tune that was interesting, such as the composite roof. But the rest of it was a letdown for our use case. I did not like the pop up wall fabric...
In OVRLND's ownership packet they cite a polyurethane sealant they recommend: 3M 540 Gray. You could put this sealant up between the roof skin and roof support bar.
Or alternatively, you could use a seam sealer for automotive applications (they sell it in gray, this link is for black): 3M...
Looks good - that's a clever idea on what looks to be the heater setup - you're going to have the hatch pop open to allow airflow? I like that idea a lot for reducing perforations in the shell, but curious how you'll deal with the rest of the hatch being open.
We have a Lavaner 4kw alpine pro with auto altitude adjustment and have been happy to have the extra BTUs on a few occasions when temps get down into the low 20s. No issues with sooting and we keep it in a diy portable pelican style box. It's not permanent, but we don't need to haul around...
