    2008 Ford E-450 4x4 Off-Road Expedition Camper $109,999

How much does it weigh? Who did the 4x4 conversion and is it coil or leaf spring? Hard to tell from the pics.

Thanks. The door has been great so far but I haven't tested it in the cold. I'm guessing there would be a lot of thermal transfer and condensation if used in the winter. It's just a basic RV door and I really only got it because I found it locally.

Spool gun for most but I'll tig it if it's something that'll fit on the welding table.

    Home Depot Flatbed Camper Build...

Oh hey there. It's been a while. The good news is I have been working on it in the last 14 months but the bad news is it's still not done. Life just keeps getting in the way and I'm fortunate to have my ERV for when I want to get away. That one's not "done" either but it's very close and very...

I'll check next time I fire it up.

Just remembered someone also asked how the awning is holding up. It's been working great but I haven't learned to trust it being fully self supporting so I usually retract it if the wind picks up at all. I have plans to make some adjustable supports to triangulate it back to the camper but...

It's holding up great. Zero problems with it and I use the lift daily when I'm on trips. I always drive around with the bed up and only lower it for sleeping. Wouldn't change a thing.

Shower hot water only- Bosch 2.5 gal electric or tiny camplux on demand ?

I've installed a few of the Bosch 4 gallon water heaters in vans and they work fine with 200ah batteries (Battleborn in my case), 400 watts solar and a 2000w inverter. Something to consider is they don't have a drain so if you need to winterize it you'll need to remove it to empty it or clear...

Getting back in the swing of things. First project was installing a few windows and a nice big access door for an outdoor kitchen and storage. The indoor kitchen will be along that same wall so the idea is to be able to grab things from the cabinets from inside or outside. We'll see how...

Finally getting back to working on this and the shell weight is approximately 1300 pounds including the hydraulic cylinders which are 60 pounds each (without hydraulic fluid). It's been a while since I've checked but I think I have 4000 pounds payload to work with so I think I'll be OK. The...

    Ford E350 VSS sensors

I ended up modifying the output housing on my 271 to work with the original gear driven VSS. Works great. If I didn't already have the 271 I probably would have gone with a BW. This sorta started as a prototype/test with an old tail housing but it ended up working so I'm running it. It...

    Ford E350 VSS sensors

I've been dealing with these issues on my E450 4x4 conversion for a while and haven't solved it yet but I do have a few things that might help you or someone else reading this. Did your van have the parking brake with a gear drive speed sensor in it mounted to the rear of the transmission? The...

I used a spool gun for most of the aluminum welding. I just finished the 4x4 conversion a few weeks ago actually. T Case is in along with a rebuilt front axle and new driveshaft. Works great so far aside from some VSS (speed sensor) issues I've been working on. I don't currently have a...

Ryobi bolt cutter made into a crimper

If I made more jaws I'd just use 3/8" steel so it's more time than material cost. I did make a set of jaws to hold multiple size pex crimping inserts but I made the tips too thin and they bent after some use. When the need arises again I'll make a stronger set for the pex dies and then make...
