Illinois yeah illinois... motoring the rural enviroment

Nice ride. The corn rows are that straight because many of us farmers are planting with autosteer tractors, and GPS these days. I have been for 6 years. mikE(knows that area)

    The Big Meander, Summer 2011

I always enjoy your adventures as well. Exactly why I take my girls out on what used to be solo trips. My 9yo is already showing signs of seeking adventure. I think I'll be jealous of the places she goes on her own...... mikE(the middle sister gets her first 'Dad trip' in two weeks to CO)

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

Oh, sorry. Again, foggy old memory. Nothing. The tcase bolts on to the trans and the alignment ring on the back of the trans just locates the tcase in the right place for the gears to mesh. mikE(still not much help)

On a D20, it bolts onto the output shaft of the trans if my foggy old memory serves me well. mikE(not that helpful)

    Shocks

I'll just pipe up and say that I think that the Edelbrock IAS extreme is a better performing shock than the Bilstiens. I drive a JKU, and went from IAS to the Bilstien 5100's when the IAS's started to leak. This is the problem I have with the Edelbrocks. I've had them on three different...

Since this seems like wanted info. The scan gauge says that the thermostat is 190. Runs there most of the time. Climbs to 200-205 on long uphills, but drops right back on the downhill. Other info is the scan gauge thinks the trans(auto) runs at about 130 humming down the interstate with my...

BTW, as an aside to this for all JK owners. I have the aero force scan gauge and the stock dash gauge gets to the middle at 180degrees, and doesn't move upward till it gets past 230degrees. I found this out as I towed my little trailer up the passes in CO on I70 last summer. mikE(closer to...

    best mod for my jk

Thanks to both sgt rock and JPK. I now have this '07 Rubi with 35's, 5:13's, auto, all the usual armor, etc... (Pics here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57223 ) I love those kinds of trips, but the reality is that I need to cross country(minimum of Iowa, Nebraska, and...

Iowa to Death Valley, and back.

Pretty much. Being a farmer, weather pretty much teaches one to constantly adapt to the changing face of things. Hopefully, that is a lesson I can pass down to my girls. No sense in getting all bent up when plans go awry. mikE(cuz they always do)

Iowa to Death Valley, and back.

Thank you. I actually really enjoy your reports. Knowing your skills with a camera, I'll take that as a big compliment. Death Valley is just like going to Big Bend. Only West. Just takes the decision to go,the realization you do not have time to see it all, and the enjoyment of what you...
