GFC does have the panel stiffeners, but I believe they epoxy them on. Rivets by design fill the hole they are in and create a somewhat seal. I have not had any water coming through.
I've got a short roof rack in the works that should act as a nice wind deflector. I thought about building a fairing off of the camper, but it would already have so much overhang I shelved that thought.

Yeah those aluminium hinges work fantastic. They create the perfect amount of space for that bulb seal and are plenty strong. I used some plastic hinges at first but it was clear they would not hold up, so I switched to the aluminium and adjusted the spreadsheet...
