Used one with great success. Simply added an external antenna, ran the cable into the cab, took off the rubber antenna and plugged the handheld in.
When not in use the cable was coiled under the passenger floor mat.
So the answer is yes it will work.

I like the idea as well and am planning for a halo on the lid if I go that way...
I'll check out mytarps.com at home. Have you gotten any pooling of water with the tarp or do you have a brave of sorts to prevent that?

I'm debating on putting a lid on my trailer. Just wondering what the consensus is on lids. What some of the pros and cons are.
With a lid contents would be more secure but that's added weight. The trailer in question is already all steel and heavy.
I don't foresee an RTT in the future. But...
Would be a great platform for an RTT on a Tacoma or similar truck. It's adjustable length and width make it very easy to fit most short beds.

Got this several years ago and only used it for hauling some camping stuff to keep the XJ a little emptier than usual. Now I'm ready to fix it up more for overlanding.
Some sanding, priming and paint to start. Need a lid but not sure where to start with that.

Took this off a 2008 dodge ram I used to have. Should fit short beds from 2002 - 2008. I used it as you can tell for hauling my kayaks. Thought it might be adaptable to my cargo trailer but no. The kayak accessories are not included. More info on the track can be found at USA racks dot com...
seems like all the racks work with soft covers... i'm hoping to find a hard, folding one...
BAKflip & Extang i like...
a good rack is top priority for the kayaks... yakima compatible second... then tonneau cover...
all of these are ones i've been considering... really good choices...
the bakflip & access (even though it's soft) are top of the list...
hard part seems to be finding a combination that works together if
they don't come as a set...
wish i had the facility/ability to fabricate something... i...
hey all...
i'm trying to find a cargo rack/tonneau combination... the rack is a must have for kayaks and i'd like a folding tonneau to secure gear...
i've found a few online but nothing that's to my liking yet... if anyone knows of, has such or can offer some advice i'd certainly appreciate...
