Here are a few details on my roof rack setup.
Long story short: I wanted something that would work as an elevated photo platform. The photos here show the platform combined with a tripod and an extended center column. Final height is roughly 20 feet above the ground.

New air deflector and plastic "skid" plate to replace the damaged/broken parts. The air deflector was $14 at Rock Auto. The skid plate was $13. I reused my aluminum skid plate.
I got the final roof rack / platform mounting finished today. To recap: I adapted a Rhino Rack Pioneer platform to my old Thule crossbars.
Mounts consist of a U-shaped lower piece and a flat upper piece. The first bolt clamps "DOWN", through the lower piece, while the second bolt clamps "UP"...

The 5100s provide what I would call the "typical Bilstein ride", slightly stiffer than stock over small bumps with increased resistance to roll and dive under braking.

A decade of salty ski resort winters rusted out the trim retaining clips for the kick panels.
I found a 2002 Suburban at the local Pick & Pull with the same trim piece in perfect condition.
Factory "skidplate", LED bulbs, brake pads, oil filter, hella lights for the rack, Bilstein 5100s, HVAC controller, pass-side mirror glass, and all of the parking cables.
Bringing this thread back to life for 2025!
I will be taking the Burb up to Canada for the summer. Before that, I need to fix a few things.
The rear hatch and glass needed new struts.
