To build, or not to build. That is the question.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and input. I'm currently wheelchair bound, recovering from a near fatal motorcycle crash on Father's Day last year. I'm just trying to get my head straight for what to do to the Suburban when I'm able to get back into the garage and start working on her. This...

    95 Chevy Tire Question

I've had 2 work vehicles with Silent Armors. One was an 04 Tahoe, and my current one, an 03 Expedition. I absolutely hate the tires. They're good on pavement, but I have little confidence in snow with them, and they are worthless in mud. Even light mud. Hate, hate, hate them. Did I mention...

02 Suburban 2500 Maintenance - Questions on Parts Quality

I like using Moog components. I've never had a failure with them. As for the brakes, if you're going to change out everything and upgrade, I'd go with a Baer system. If you don't NEED to upgrade, you can replace with factory components. That's what I did on my last couple of rigs, and they've...

    Doing Brakes

Brakes aren't a tough job, but since doing a 360 spin in a 63 Impala SS in excess of 80 mph after doing a brake job... I'm always scared when I do 'em!

    90' Dodge Steering Question

Go with Borgeson joints and some double d shafts. That's what I replaced my 55 Chevy truck steering shaft with. No slop, stainless steel, and it'll last forever. It's a very cost effective set up too. I spent maybe $150 on everything. Remember to use loctite!

To build, or not to build. That is the question.

Thanks y'all. That's wise counsel. I think we'll install a 2" spacer on the front coils to bring the front up just a bit to offset the winch, and we'll replace all of the factory rubber bushings in the front end, new shocks and tires, and let him decide what else to do with it as time goes on...

To build, or not to build. That is the question.

Hey y'all. I'm a new guy here, but I've been around 4x4's since the 70's. I have a 99 Suburban 1/2 ton that is getting pretty long in the tooth. She's served us well, but at nearly 220,000 miles, she's really in need of a complete ground up rebuild. My son will start driving in a year, and...
