Trigger pulled! 5 New 3 piece Hutchinson beadlock wheels ship Monday morning to us. I will mount the new Michelin tires on the wheels myself and then have them dynamically balanced at a tire shop I trust and have used for years. I tried to save a little money the first time, it cost me in...
That was our original plan, for the last 6 months. That is why we decided to wear out the Conti's.
Things changed on my end and after my experience with the Buckstop steel rims, they are coming off the rig.
More on that later on this forum.
We have decided no matter what there will be a...
WELL SAID! Thanks for the information. After 3 weeks of research and talking with various different wheel owners and companies I think I have it narrowed down. I called Hutchinson myself to get distributor information. Later I talked with Justin Wehring on the phone. GREAT guy and was not...
After some down time after returning home and giving the Conti's some thought. I sold the Michelin's really cheap and bought a used set of Conti's with at least 1000 miles left on them. HA HA HA! JK JK JK !!!!
NOW FOR reality....the only thing I can come up with on OUR 1 tire failure is...
No nothing yet. I continue to keep an ear out from the people in the know.
Will post ASAP if I hear ANYTHING!
As far as I am concerned, I am probably done with the Continental MPT’s, at least this version!
Will post a trip report of the Michelins, before we launch on a BIG trip NW in the...
On the road, sorry for the late reply.
WELL...we had a buyer for the old tires and that fell through. Decided to keep them on to wear them out and then a new buyer showed up right before we departed on our current trip. Will swap them out when we get home. On another note, I was able to...
The Christmas markets definitely were not "devil markets"...LOL. We attended close to 20 markets in the countries I mentioned. Most were different from one another, but after awhile I have to admit I was in Christmas market overload. The smaller towns and the classics were the best ones...
No they are not. We were waiting for the "new" versions of the MPT 81's, when we needed new tires. The want came up before the "need". I know of someone testing the new version. Harder compound, higher load rating and rumors of a slightly increased speed rating 72 MPH. We made the choice...
Snowball is getting some new shoes! More on that story later!
When we originally built our rig the Michelins were almost impossible for an individual builder to source due to a military contract. These were VERY hard to get but my commercial tire guy came through. I set the truck up for 41"...
Well I know it has been awhile! Trying to keep this a build thread with a little travel element thrown in here and there, because that is why we built it!
Came home from Newfoundland and flew off to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic for the Christmas markets. A month well...
The journey continues. Newfoundland! All I can say is beautiful, and the roads....well a bit rough but drive the middle like AK!
Trinity Lighthouse overlooking Trinity Newfoundland.
CHEERS!!
RAM does have the alternators wired so they can not be separated, aka one for the engine and one for the habitat unless you do some computer work. It gets messy according to the techs I talked with.
They work together. Dual 220 amp alternators on my rig. Dual Victron DC-DC 50 AMP wired one...
Mini me! LOL.
The cool things you see while traveling. A couple from Switzerland was just wrapping up a 6 month tour of the US, Canada. They ship out tomorrow from Halifax home.
We toured each others rigs and had wonderful morning coffee conversation.
Based on a diesel Ford Ranger...
