I just turned 50 in August and decided the time to act is now.
Been thinking for a while about getting a fifth wheel, full time living, and boondocking, but in the back of my mind I've always dreamed bigger than that, of things like expat living, things like real overland "expeditioning" in other parts of the world.
Visiting Peru in 2018 confirmed Latin America as a region of interest, and after a 1 month road trip across the western US ending last month, I'm actively looking for a (used) truck camper for my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 dually 4x4, and seriously pondering just how far into Central America I could safely drive as a gringo with excellent pronunciation but as yet poquito vocabulary en espanol.
I'm also trying to learn what kind of suspension upgrades will allow me to better traverse washboard national park roads and maybe a few offroad lunar landscapes and still find parts if something breaks when I do make it to Latin America.
