I remember reading an old 4-Wheeler magazine where a reader's old 7.3l Powerstroke was his ideal choice because he could run it on aviation fuel up in Alaska. Always thought that was cool, but didn't know it could be detrimental!
You may have me looking for something I don't need on Facebook...
I always love seeing them, and one of my favorite trucks was an old '05 Silverado 2500hd regular cab with a cap on it. The lack of cab space is an issue if you don't have a way of securing the bed, but it sounds like you'll be covered there. I do scour FB marketplace for a cool older regular cab...
mainly cost and maybe a bit of simplicity, but it sounds like the benefits of the 17-19 aluminum trucks would outweigh that for you. Still has the 6-speed, I think the interior is more comfortable, i just wonder how the aluminum will hold up over time with fatigue and off-road use. An example of...
What motor is in the current F150? Depending on the climate you live in (read: no rust issues), the 10-14 trucks are pretty resilient. I have a 2022 F350 with 61k on it and a 2013 F150 Raptor with 143k on it and I'd be hard pressed to tell you the Raptor is worse for the wear. If it were me, I'd...

I will definitely be following along as you formulate the business plan, especially if they're easily removable to use the truck bed as a truck bed when needed, then an adventure setup when I can get away!
Wow, thanks for sharing. The Alcan 5000 is on the bucket list for me in the next 2-5 years. Just can't decide if I want to do the summer or winter trek!
Are you going to be using the truck a lot in the interim? I would say springs first so that when you buy the shocks, they will be tuned to that spring rate.
Awesome truck. Simple and I bet it just works. I always forget these had solid front axles on the half-tons. I have a soft topper, too, and like the versatility of it.
