T100’s are cool trucks. Just big enough to haul some stuff but still small enough to take on the trail. I like the way my truck rides with Old Man Emu t-bars. Not as stiff as the sway a ways.
Do it Smileyshaun! I love my underpowered yet reliable truck. It’s definately a truck of compromises but it works. I’ve taken it a lot of places I didn’t think it would go, camped where there is nobody around, and enjoyed the challenge of getting there. I can afford a truck payment but I don’t...
Agree with all of the above Dave. I would also like to add air conditioning to the list of mandatory gear. The drive across Nevada in August without it was harder than running the Rubicon ?.
However, the Blazeland long travel front suspension did make it way less stressful than when...
Thanks Matt, I appreciate that. Wish I was half as good as you make me sound. ? You did just give my thread some trail cred though. On that note..... these trucks do work! Take my word for it. ?
On the other hand, I did do this to my truck today on the Chinaman Gulch trail in Colorado. Stuck...
I’m going to update this by saying that I took my IFS pickup over the Rubicon trail! And it was awesome! The truck did really well. Obviously; I didn’t take the “hard” obstacles, but I got through the whole trail and camped where everyone else with seriously built trucks camped. I’ll call that a...
Another update on the truck’s progression. It’s late July and a lot of the trails in my area of Colorado are still covered in snow so it has given me some time in my small garage and driveway to work on the truck. However, I have found some time to get out and camp on some remote Colorado creeks...
Thanks rzj. It’s been a fun evolution. As I upgrade I am keeping old parts that are still good because these are good trucks and I will probably own another one someday.
I’m going to revive this thread from the dead zone. A lot has happened in the last couple of years. I’ve added a lot more “fun stuff” to make the truck more capable on the trail. It has taken me on a lot of adventures to some really cool places with some really cool friends; many of which I have...
Total Chaos arm all the way. Expensive but worth it. I ran a braced, stock Idler for years when I was on 33x10.50s. The brace kept me from breaking them, but they got sloppy and I got about a year out of them even with the aftermarket bronze bushings. The Total Chaos Idler is some serious beef...
I just spent a week in Moab with my new Blazeland long travel kit. It worked awesome!
I ran a few new trails (Golden Spike, and Steel Bender) and one that I’d run in the past (Top of the World) for a solid comparison of old suspension vs. new suspension. The extra travel and width up front made...
I loved sleeping in the back of my truck in the canopy. I miss it. Mine was a Leer commercial topper that I build a bed platform in. It was the higher version so I had a bunch of headroom. It had full side doors that opened up that I added windows to. I also insulated it. It worked great.
I started this thread back in 2014 and have thrown an update in here and there. Well, here's another one. I finally got around to installing my Blazeland "weld it yourself" long travel kit.
This is for size comparison for height and width. The 3rd gen 4Runner has a 1 1/4 inch Bilstien lift up...
