    My Journey

ITTOG.....the Beartooth Mountains now compete with the Crazy Mountains for being my favorite mountain range in Montana. If you ever have the opportunity to return to Montana, try to get there..... Amazingly we didn't see any bears, mountain lions, elk, or deer that day.....after spending...

    My Journey

I finally decided that we just had to turn around.....we had wandered so far off trail so many times, stopped to swim in the lakes and stopped to take it all in, that I really had no idea how far we had gone. After maybe only 10 minutes, maybe a little more (+/- a half mile) we ran into the...

    My Journey

Eventually the well worn trail meandered further away from the lakes, gained even more elevation, hugged the base of a long line of ragged cliffs.....and along the base of these ragged cliffs I could hear the occasional sound of rocks falling..... probably the work of goats or sheep traversing...

    My Journey

The trail seemed to go on forever (it actually did)..... It dropped down into another valley.....we crossed over small creeks that ran from one tiny lake to another..... One thing that I clearly remember was that it seemed to get more remote the deeper that we went into the backcountry...

    My Journey

Riversdad.....the truth is that we crossed paths with four hikers that day. One guy that was on his way out. He'd spent two weeks backpacking with his cattle dog in the backcountry.....I was so envious. I also met an elderly couple that was struggling on the only somewhat difficult section of...

    My Journey

To be perfectly clear here, the pictures that I'm posting may not actually be of the lake that I'm speaking of. I took well over two hundred pictures that day.....so many pictures.....so many lakes..... The next lake that we encountered was Night Lake.....every bit as beautiful as Island...

    My Journey

The Beartooth High Lakes Trail was our first memorable adventure on this week long trip. I chose this particular trail because there was minimal elevation gain (719 vertical feet), it wasn't particularly long (8.0 miles roundtrip), and it passed by lots of pristine mountain lakes (approximately...

    My Journey

There's a large paved parking area at the state line between Montana and Wyoming. This is where I chose to camp.....something that I've done many times in the past. The reason for choosing this spot when there are thousands of better places is simple.....there's great internet connection right...

    My Journey

And then it was September of 2025.....and much like August of 2025.....near drought conditions continued at the cabin. Somewhere toward the end of that month we took off for another week long trip on the road. The plan originally was to go to northeast Wyoming to view the fall colors in the...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Wow ! What an incredible post ! Hanging out with Orangutans and diving with Hammerhead Sharks (I've dove with plenty of sharks in my past life but never with Hammerheads.....it was a dream of mine.....lucky you guys) ! Then the "Island sunset hike" ! The beauty of that place is unmatched ! So...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

That whole ordeal sounds like it was incredibly stressful and obviously really expensive. This just goes to show how rewarding travel is. It makes me think back (and appreciate) to my earlier days of travel when all I needed was a backpack and $1,500 would be enough cash to live for months...

    My Journey

There was this dead snake that I saw one afternoon in the middle of the road.....at the time it was interesting.....now not so much..... So you see now.....I've got nothing more to share. Before we headed south.....towards home.....I stopped to clean up a few miles of roadway.....always...

    My Journey

Foy.....I don't know if that bar or really anything else was open during our brief stop here. I took some pictures of the downtown area and parked there. Then we hiked up that gravel road that was gated & posted as closed. I do think that you're correct about the road name. I just couldn't...

Travelling the Americas | 6 years on the road

I've been watching your channel for quite some time now and just now realized that I'm not a subscriber (don't worry.....just changed that). Your videos are really well done and you have some great content. It's awesome to see you posting here. Thanks.....

    My Journey

We spent the next few days and nights hanging out alongside this roadway whose name I can't recall..... Often when I write about the prairie, I write about the silence and the loneliness of these lands..... These truly were once again the dominant features of these wide open spaces...
