Since we travel a LOT of dusty roads here in summer time I went ahead an installed a Safari Snorkel to the truck. The dust is so heavy here I wanted to get as much protection as possible before the season started.
Safari makes two snorkels for this truck, one for the narrow body (mine) and one...
Here it is out in the wild. Near a lake called Lago Chapo, southern Chile. I actually have a Safari Snorkel in route, to help cut that dust entering the intake of this truck on the long chase truck duties it will have come summer time. So far so good, really nice truck.
Yes, I had a small build thread. I did this way before it was common place in the US. I'm not sure where the truck ended up. The canvas was sewn by a local shop in Atlanta and the fabrication was done by me and a friend with a TIG machine. The canvas was around a frame and I had a dual spare...
My buddy liked mine so much he bought one also and we did the same Old Man Emu suspension and painted the wheels block. 235/80s as well. Single cabs are awesome.
Its possible but I doubt it, here in Chile at least they don't even offer the reg cab long box with a gas engine, and I doubt the 2.7 could handle 1000 kilo payload in terms of torque. The highest payload truck available is the one I bough. The 4 door HIlux model has the 2.7 option but the pay...
I had the 2.7 gas engine in my old single cab Tacoma and it was a good engine but no way could it have held the same payload this Hilux has. The other big difference is the bed length, which is why I fabricated a flat bed for my Tacoma. Toyota USA has a very focused design strategy.
Yeah, Who the hell knows what the reason for not allowing the small diesel pick up truck. This thing is getting 30MPG right now with 32s. I was getting over 700KM to the tank on the hwy. My old 4 banger gas Tacoma couldn't touch that on a down hill with a tail wind.
Do it! I had a single cab Tacoma when I was back in the states and it was a fun truck as well, not nearly as heavy duty as this Hilux but fun non the less.
You know its funny, Besides from needing the long bed, and it being the only option really. I did start looking at payload capacity and this Hilux has 940 Kilo Payload. Right there with all the full size trucks in the 150/1500 range. Dwarfing the Tacoma by a lot as well. Over all its a really...
I haven't posted here in a very long time. But I thought you die hard Toyota fans would appreciate this new project of mine.
I picked up a new 2022 Hilux 2.4 Turbo Diesel, 6spd manual trans with 4wd and factory E-locker last week.
As you can see its a single cab, not super common but not rare...

Well in the US the Ram got the 6.7 at 2007.5 but here all the trucks were 5.9 untill 2010. Just curious if anyone knew this for the ROW spec trucks. I found it interesting as the 5.9 doesn't have any emmisions stuff, not even egr.
I'm assuming that the 2009 5.9s here in Chile are all egr and...
Cummins experts and historians......
I have a question regarding the rest of world spec trucks. I live in Chile and see that ALL RAM 2500s through 2009 are 5.9 powered trucks.
No DPF and the trucks here did not get the 6.7 until the major body change in 2010.
Does anyone have info regarding...
