Window shopping: Chevy Silverado 1500 2.7

Just window shopping but may potentially buy a new truck this spring.

I’m keen to try a Silverado since I’ve never had one. Never considered one in the past, as there were better offroad packages available from other full-size pickups.

My “off road capability” needs have changed. Currently, I just need a truck with 4WD and good tires. That’ll get me to all of the spots I need to get to. And payload, I just need something around 1,500lbs. And I don’t tow anything.

I’ll most likely get a crew cab in Trail Boss trim.

Engine: I haven’t driven a 2.7L. How’s this engine fared? I originally considered the 5.3, but the more I read about the 2.7, the more I like it.

Anything else I should consider? Thanks.

The local dealer is advertising attractive prices for the Custom Trail Boss with the 2.7. Don't know what payload is.

Yes, I’m seeing $52k Custom Trail Boss advertised at $38k. Pre-pandemic pricing.

Slight lift, locker, and eventually I’ll get 33’s and a bed cap. Seems like exactly what I need.

Biggest question is the engine. 2.7/8-sp seems like a good combo for what I’ll use it for.

Trail Boss comes with 33's AT, does it not? That was part of the allure of the Trail Boss back when I was looking when the T1's first came out. Granted, I ended up with. K2, but more optioned.

Yes it seems like the 2.7L is being widely used in full size half ton trucks

Is this the same 2.7L motor that comes in 2023+ Canyon and Colorado trucks?

TrailBoss is a 2" factory lift.....no lockers
