At the beginning of our Sonoran Rovers journey, we purchased this truck to be a support vehicle to use for our tour company. The goal was to build a Defender platform that could drive comfortably on the freeway for 6 - 8 hours with a crew of 4 and carry all the gear needed to support a trip of up to 20 people. Apart from a full sized American double cab pick up (and where is the fun in that) this is hands down the best platform we could come up with.

After well over 1,000 hours of work and multiple adventures across the Southwest and Mexico, it is finally time for us to say goodbye to this build. This truck has been foundational in creating and building our business, but we’re excited to see it go to a new home where it will be appreciated as much as it has been here! For us to build a truck of this caliber again would cost well over $250,000 and take at least a year. • Completely rebuilt chassis - Stripped and chemically dipped with new outriggers and rear cross member
• Double skinned chassis for extra strength to handle the Overland build
• Swapped to Left Hand Drive
• OME heavy springs and BP-51 adjustable shocks
• Heavy duty steering arms from Gwyn Lewis 4×4
• Rebuilt axels
• Rear ARB locker
• Rebuilt R380 5 speed transmission
• Rebuilt LT230 transfer case - 1.2 ratio for freeway driving
• All new disc brakes
• 1 Tonne wheels with 285 75 r16 BFG ATs

• Ministry of Defender air conditioning
• Custom Puma seats - for 5 with leather and hunter check - designed and built by Kens Customs in UK
• SONY Double DIN with sub woofer, as well as Apple and Android Car Play
• Custom wooden dash
• All new VDO gauges

Expedition build

• Alu-Cab Canopy Camper for 5.5 foot bed
• Alu-Cab awning AND Shower Cube
• Rear spare wheel carrier
• Auxiliary 75 liter (20 gal, if you prefer Freedom Units) stainless steel chassis mounted fuel tank and transfer pump for a total fuel capacity of 155 liters (41 gal) for a 700+ mile loaded range/
• Auxiliary 75 (20gal) liter stainless steel chassis mounted water tank with pump
• DH9 Diesel Hot Water System with Espar Hydronic HS3 D5E
• 180 watt Sun Flare flexible solar panel

We haven't used this truck as much for overland tours the last couple of years and have a nearly identical build, but with an automatic transmission to use for our tours and adventures, when we need it. Like we mentioned, this was really built to be the centerpiece of our tour business, but with the limited use it sees these days, its time to let someone else create a load of new memories with this beast! We're also a Defender dealer and downsized our outdoor lot space a little last year, so need to make some more space for inventory. It's been well maintained and driven regularly, though, just mostly to and from the house the last couple of years.
