The quick summary: 2006 Ford E-350, 101k miles on chassis/body, 12k miles on 6.7 Cummins + Allison transmission. 4x4 done by Advanced but upgraded Alcan springs added sometime later. High top added by Timberline. Former RV style windows removed, flares added in rear instead. Interior is empty shell. Located in Evergreen, CO.

The details:

I bought this van from a youth group that had no idea what to do with it and have had to put the puzzle pieces together on my own.

This van started life in MT as a school shuttle bus as a gas V10 van. That’s when the 4x4 conversion happened, I believe. It got a small 14-16” high top at that time.

The person who had the engine conversion done bought it at 89k miles. Destroked in Arvada, CO did the engine + trans swap. Both the engine and trans had 0 miles at this point. I’ve traded a lot of notes with MG on this, as he had a similar setup. We’re pretty sure both vans had engines from the same train. He used it at a small ski mountain as a shuttle, but quickly lost his business, and donated it to the youth group. They used it sporadically, but it mostly sat parked. I stumbled upon it and grabbed it from them.

The youth group wasn’t the kindest to it despite the low usage (they had no idea how to maintain it), and while I’ve done a fair bit to sort it back out, it still has a little ways to go.

Build details:

-CR exhaust manifold

-BD ‘Super B Special’ turbo

-2008 ECU + harness

-EFI Live tuner

-Ford factory 6.0 intercooler

-‘Stage 5’ Allison 1000 6 speed (by Destroked, not ATS)

-Trans standalone controller w/ tapshift and tow/haul functionality

-Fairly sure 4.88s in the diffs, by counting tire rotations vs shaft rotations

-Manual shift NV271 t-case.

-Alcan leaf springs

-Dana 60 kingpin front axle, semi float rear axle

-Air Dog FASS fuel pump, filter, and water separator

-Fiberine 24” bubble top, with extra wood for mounting, windows w/ screens

-Flarespace flares in place of older RV style windows. Exterior metal welded in from donor van. Interior metal glued in place with 3M panel bond.

-Raceline 8x170 wheels with 8x165 adapters, 35x12.5x17 Kanati Trail Hogs

What it needs:

-Unfortunately, a head gasket. It’s such a small leak that even a shop missed it, when I asked them about it. It doesn’t overheat and it starts/runs well, but there are some small bubbles in the coolant expansion tank when it get warm enough and the t-stat opens.

-PS fluid leak from where they tied in a plow at one point

-A/C compressor is tripping out on high pressure. Could be the TXV, could be the filter or dryer – I live at 8500’ and didn’t chase this down. But can confirm that when triggered, the compressor starts and the fan kicks on.

-An interior.

Price: $22,500 OBO. If it had the HG done I’d be asking a lot more, but have a timeline on some things in my personal life, and need to move onto the next project.

It's titled in CO, registered in a non-emissions county. It is entirely subjective to each state, county, and city's requirements depending on your locality.

Still listed as gas. For some areas, this makes it easier, others, makes it tougher.

Edit: just checked and actually there's noting about fuel type on the title, but it says gas on the registration.

Very cool build and great bones. I have been barely starting to look at my options for a new camp rig that would accomodate +1 to my family and this is awfully tempting as I am not too far from ya in Lakewood as well.. but it doesnt look like I could register it here in Jeffco. From my search it needs to have standard OEM emission items that would have come on the donor motor. So lame

Lakewood is close indeed - no work travel on my horizon at the moment and lots to do on the house, so I'm around after work and on weekends.
