Montero may be totaled. What now?

Post up a photo of the deer damage, I’d love to see the results of deer vs Montero.

    Montero Misfire Help

You can hear engine sounds well enough to ID a specific misfiring cylinder? Anyway, start the truck up and look at live fuel trim data at idle and post those numbers. Is your screenshot from idle? If your fuel trims are negative you probably don’t have a vacuum leak. Check out this link...

    Montero Misfire Help

Check your fuel trims at idle with your scanner. How old are your upstream oxygen sensors?

    Montero Misfire Help

How long have you owned it? I would be doing plugs and wires next if I had no service history to refer to. Does this code show up immediately after startup idle, or do you need to increase RPM’s to cause it, or are you taking it for a drive when it happens? I’m not familiar with the 3rd gen...

    Montero Misfire Help

I’d perform a bench top test on the MAF before and after cleaning. That way you’ll also have a better idea if being dirty was the problem.

    Where is the Oil Pressure??

I think the starter RPM’s should be enough to move oil. The shop instructions on my rebuild involved long cranking periods (I think it was like 1 minute?) with fuel pump off so the engine wouldn’t start, specifically to get oil moving around. I don’t remember the exact amount of no start crank...

    The old 1999 build thread

All that’s missing is some branding for it. You need to CNC a little toasty logo and weld it on.

    Gen 2.5 coolant reservoir

Why did Mitsu put the level markers on the coolant reservoir in a place where you can’t easily see them.

    Which Ball Joint?

I think we can also all agree that it’s doubtful that any aftermarket supplier is engineering stuff for our trucks with the Rubicon in mind. No one should complain when stuff fails after severe duty & abuse the way I’ve seen on some of the trail videos posted here......unless someone is making a...

    Gen 3 Timing Belt

Take pics as you go. As you remove stuff, lay it out on a table L to R or R to L or whatever as you go so when you reassemble everything is in the order you removed it. Label stuff. If you do it this way it’s way easier and almost fun.

    Suspension bushings

Lower rears....whoops sorry you must have a Gen-3. I suppose the same test applies though but I’m talking a front on a gen 2.5

    Suspension bushings

Mine were still tight at 190k (just to be clear I’m talking lower control arm bushings). I wanted to do them but couldn’t get them out. Someone more experienced than me put a pry bar on them and tried to wiggle them around, he said skip it they are still good. So I did everything else. Truck...

Any idea how much weight this will be adding to your truck overall once you are done?

    Crankshaft pulley bolt

What years and which engines were impacted? I’ve read this a hundred times: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES: MIRAGE MODEL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 1.5L ENGINES; MONTERO SPORT MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 3.0L ENGINES; AND MONTERO MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 3.0L ENGINES. THE BOLT SECURING THE CRANKSHAFT...
