    Post your tents

We have a variety, depends on the situation...we have since moved away from the RTT (too small for a growing family of 4) and picked up a Kamparoo for more 'basecamp' trips (tons of water/kitchen/other camp luxuries). The main menu: Springbar Campsite... Mountain Hardwear Trango 4...

    Tent stake/spike suggestions - Moab

If you are unfamiliar with the area you are staying in, and are concerned about the ability to stake in your tent (especially if it necessitates staking to be erected), I would certainly go with a freestanding tent, and weight in down properly. Otherwise, the Snow Peak stakes are superb. I...

For Your Soul- The White Rim Trail July 2010

More Murphy's A: After a slow and leisurely morning, we packed it up and went on our way towards our next camp at Potato Bottom. On the trail: From here, I didn't take too many photos, so I will rely on Rick's stash. Potato Bottom: Rick's photos are attached

Abandoning the RTT for a ground tent...

Food for thought-I have been using the Mountain Hardwear Trango 4 for a little over 4 years now. It has been in use in super cold climates for winter use, and just recently on the White Rim trail where it was quite hot. It has mesh over the two large doors, but can be zipped closed, and has a...

For Your Soul- The White Rim Trail July 2010

The pace heading out the 40+ miles to Murphy's A/B/C was slow, but as it turns out, we saw a magnificent storm develop right in front of us...blowing rain, sand, and clouds, thunder and lightning chasing us down. We were fortunate to be still on our way, in the safety of vehicles.

For Your Soul- The White Rim Trail July 2010

The first two nights were cool...perhaps 68-72ish. The last night along the river it was for sure at least 85 and quite humid (for Utah). No breeze whatsoever.

For Your Soul- The White Rim Trail July 2010

I was lucky enough to be invited to head to the White Rim Trail with a group of folks from the www.toyota120.com website. All were traveling from California to go see the Moab area and had permits for the White Rim. I appreciate their friendliness and trust in me when I suggested we change our...

First two days the temps were perfect...warm, but not extreme. Somewhat humid (for S. Utah) The last night it was hot and muggy, a storm rolled through which clouded the skies over. Just getting started.

"It will be good for your soul." I told my brother in law Kevin the above as he was trying to figure out his ability to attend the trip or not. He came along. It was great for our souls. The White Rim Trail. Canyonlands, UT. Experience it.
