    Vandito: 95 Ford E350 7.3 4wd ZF5 manual build

Solid front axle, diesel engine, manual transmission and transfer case shifters, cargo van.....I'm loving it, and Sub'd! When did Ford stop putting solid front axles on their vans? I thought their vans were just F250's with a different body on top.

My ZR2 Colorado and Canyon Saga

25 mpg for commuting, 17-18 mpg for towing....im liking the 2.8 duramax. I can barely get 18 mpg in my normal commuting with the 4Runner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is the GX built on a similar 25 yr platform as the LX and Land Cruiser?

The GX is built on the LC Prado platform same as the 4Runner. It's basically the luxury version of the 4Runner (with an optional v8) the same way the LX is the luxury version of the LC 200 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RAM Trucks recall for fire risk

There are only 5 recalls listed for that model and year on the NHTSA website, which isn't outrageous by today's standards. I'm sure it has more than a few TSB's, but those are different from outright recalls.

RAM Trucks recall for fire risk

Which truck did you own? Looking at the NHTSA, there are a few recalls out for the Ram HD (it varies with the year and 2500 vs. 3500 rating). Most of them seem related to air bag issues and electronics. There seem to be very few mechanical and powertrain recalls with these newer 3rd gen's...

RAM Trucks recall for fire risk

This affected version of the Cummins (2013+) has been out for over 4 years now, and many of these vehicles have hundreds of thousands of miles on them. I haven't heard of fires at the water pump being a common problem, and FCA seems to be proactively resolving the defect. All things...

    BoldAdventures 2015 Power Wagon Build

So the bigger ones are 37's? What size are the smaller ones? They look too small to be 35's. Any rubbing with the bigger tires? Also is your friend going to make more of those transmission skid plates? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Next truck, 4 different options...

At least for the Ram 3500, the payload differences between gasoline and diesel aren't that pronounced.

    Next truck, 4 different options...

Do you have a document or reference to support this? I hadn't heard that about the 6.7L Cummins until now. The Aisin, by all accounts, is a true HD transmission that is well suited to the torque put out by the Cummins. The base 68RFE has also seen improvements over the previous auto's and a...

    Tacoma/Tundra; Trd Pro?

Traction control is great, when it works. But it's not a true substitute for mechanical lockers. I ended getting a Trail edition 4runner (with locking rear diff) almost by chance...I didn't go out of my way to get one. That locker has gotten me out of some tough (and remote) spots on more...

    Ranger Raptor...

Some of the Ford Transit vans do have the 3.2l (it's referred to as a Powerstroke, but I think it was Ford's European division that developed it). I wouldn't put too much stock in one person's misfortune. The engine, and the Ranger platform, are sold and used globally. They engine has gotten...

    Ranger Raptor...

Having just spent a fair bit of time in a Nissan Pulsar with a 108HP 1.5l turbodiesel, I had the same experience. I certainly couldn't rev that thing out the way I would a gasoline engine, but that thing had more than enough grunt to get me (and 3 other passengers) up to highway speeds (75mph)...

    Ranger Raptor...

Have you ever driven a modern diesel? I'd suggest you do so rather than rely on hearsay as gospel. They get very good fuel economy, as long as you don't drive like an a$$hat. They don't accelerate or give you the same pep that a comparable gasoline engine will, but you can definitely feel the...

    Ranger Raptor...

For the love of God, Ford please just gives us an emissions-compliant version of the Ranger Wildtrak that you sell overseas. If you want to make a Raptor version for all the truck bro's, fine, but please give the 4x4 enthusiasts the workhorse version. Not everyone wants a Baja vehicle.

Land cruiser straight 6 vs V8?

I think the actual 2.8l cummins being offered as a crate engine is rated for 165hp and 267lb-ft, which is a bit less than the rating you listed for the ISF version. Even so, the torque delivery and fuel economy you're getting with that engine offers some real potential for engine swaps into old...

Land cruiser straight 6 vs V8?

That's the problem...we're living in lala land in terms of fuel prices. When they eventually go back up, which they will, getting 13-16 mpg for overlanding trips is going to drain your wallet. Maybe that doesn't matter to some people. I disagree. The original 1HD-T 4.2L turbodiesel that was...

    Cummin's Dual Battery Questions

The 6.7l cummins, and the 5.9l that preceded it, don't have glow plugs but rather grid heaters. Dual alternators are almost a no-brainer for someone intending to overland with their Ram. Between winches, lights, air compressors and random accessories, I think the extra amperage provided by...

    Ronny Dahl's Trips

This thread is pretty much landcruiser porn....videos of all these heavily-modified Toyota 4x4's that I want so bad but, realistically, I know I'll never have.

    Expedition Overland - 2015 Season

I can't speak to that tire size. I have stock size (265 70R17) AT2's on my 4runner. General had a good rebate on them when I picked them up and given the good reviews they've gotten from XO and other groups, I jumped at the chance. Just a tiny bit more road noise over my stock tires, and...
