@victorc With your 3" lift and 37" tires on your Ram/flatbed/CAMP-HBE setup, can you take two measurements? One from flat/firm ground to the top of the closed popup front corner of the camper and another from flat/firm ground to the closed popup rear corner? And then an approximate height of...
The bowen website has some good images and it's a great idea for those that want to use a slide-in layout camper that sits lower than it would on a flatbed. Great that there are more and more options and choices out there!
In our case, the primary reasons that we'd consider changing to a HBE...
Some differences, based on the previous Summits, are:
Length (Base Camp is 9'. Previous Summit's were 10.5' and 12')
Width: Base camp is 78" wide exterior and Summits were 84" wide.
Thicker walls. Base camp 1.5"/38mm walls. Summit's had 2.1"/54mm thick walls.
Interior layout, Interior...
It does make business sense for them to limit variations.
I thought of another issue with the extra height; I wont be able to fit it in my shop. Current CAMP-X on fullsize pickup clears by a lot and, by my calculations, the current version of the CAMP-HBE on an HD pickup would clear by 2 to 4...
@Ninelitetrip I quoted you from a different OEV thread and thought I'd ask about it here. Do you know if all CAMP-HBE will get the underbed storage? Or will it be an option? Hoping it's an option. As much as the underbed storage would be handy, it would increase overall exterior camper height...
Interesting. I'll share that I'm one of those that didn't like the colored logo on the camper. It wasn't the flags; it was a colors. Some don't like red highlights or it clashed with their pickup color, so I think going to a simplified black and white logo is a good move. My 2020 CAMP-X had the...
There are some images and video in the CAMP-FX thread. Im sure more to come, shortly, from the unvailing at the expo.

That yellow looks good. Can you share an image from above? There was an OEV camper that had really wild looking multicolor, striped, retro orange color seats. My wife and I both loved it, but imagine we would be in the minority there. It would, however, make the bamboo surfaces more palatable...
I fully understand that interior colors are a personal preference. I've still not warmed up to the bamboo "look". I love it for a cutting board, but definitely not for an entire counter top or table surface. Functional, yes, but the look is not for us. Seems like bamboo surfaces are a "strongly...
Thought it was time for a few images of the new interior. These are all from the OEV website, but posting here because the images appear larger than on the small "flip book" on the OEV website.
Now that specs and images were released, I went back and updated the first few pages with everything. Like "sn-85" reported, details are on their website: https://overlandex.com/camp-fx/
I went back and deleted all my intermediate posts to clean up the thread and consolidated everything. Specs...
Nice. And, they publicly released a couple other items that Arnold had mentioned to me...
Underbed storage.
Under dinette storage
Wet bath
Will be fun to see how all these were implemented. Per Arnold, the underbed storage works because flatbed surfaces sit higher, so the overall roof height...
Also, many have REDARC manager 30 as original equipment from the camper manufacturer. While it may not be top shelf, it's a significant step up from a lot of the units these camper manufacturers used to install. And the issue outlined early in this post has been taken care of. True that the...
Have not yet had a hint on CAMP-FX pricing. OEV says the first peeks at the CAMP-FX are very close. I think first looks will now be in May. And then the full CAMP-FX debut will be at this years Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, AZ from May 20 to 22.
I started a CAMP-FX thread (a little...
Great looking rig! I like how the standard beds in pickups are getting slightly longer. That CAMP-X looks like it sits nearly completely in the bed rather than sticking out 3 or 4 inches like in my '13 Tundra.
Would you mind sharing a pic or two of the interior? Always like to see the latest...
Keeping a LiFePO4 at 100% isn't great for them, so I'd recommend not staying plugged into shore power when it's sitting unused, particularly if the environment is hot. But running it down to 1% is even harder on it. They like to sit between 30% and 70%. Best practice is arriving home with them...
