School me on home-defense (gun related).

IIRC, something like 50 people are struck by lightning each year (http://www.lightningsafety.noaa.gov/medical.htm). According to the justice department the number of victims of violent crime is something around 1.3 million. So the numbers favor the armed law-abiding citizen.

School me on home-defense (gun related).

If they're in my home after dark without my invite, you're right...they're an intruder, and my reasonable expectation is that they are there to do my family or me bodily harm. They chose the field, I choose the weapons. It's not my fault if they choose poorly. And in many states (including...

School me on home-defense (gun related).

You still have to aim shotguns. At typical in-house ranges the pattern doesn't hardly open up at all (2-3 inches at 10', at best. Their length makes them unwieldy in close quarters (like a house). In fact, an aggressor can grab the barrel out of your hands as it precedes you out a doorway...

School me on home-defense (gun related).

I have left magazines (pistol and rifle) loaded for years and years without problems. In fact I found (in 2005) some AR-15 mags that I had loaded in 1997 or 1998 and misplaced....when I discovered them I took them to the range and every round fired (it was PMC 55 gr, btw). Properly designed...

    LL Bean

I bought some dress slacks from them last year, and they went back...the quality was pretty poor. OTOH, I'm wearing LLBean jeans and a pullover shirt right now... With them, if there is ANYTHING you don't like about their stuff, ever, you can get your money back, no hassles. Hard to go wrong...

    RFI Question

Get some ferrite cores and wrap them around the coax, the power cord, and anything else (speaker cord?) that goes into the radio, as close to the radio as possible. Give the cord two or three turns, minimum. Snap-together cores are available from HRO, MFJ, Amazon, etc.

Anybody "Rhino lined/Line-Xed" the inside of their truck?

I've got a pickup with rhinolining. Works well, very durable, easy to clean. A friend rebuilt a CJ-5 with a 4BT, he had the entire body coated. Looks like something the cat barfed up but absolutely rugged.

    Refurbishing Wedco gas cans

You can put some steel shot in the tank and bang it around to clean the rust out. There is a product sold for coating the interior of motorcycle tanks that works well. It's available from motorcycle shops, but is rather pricey, iirc. The only issue in using it is keeping the air channel...
