Every time I think about dropping some coin to make my truck more off road worthy I have to remind myself that I don’t actually off road and I need my rig to be able to tow 10k pounds, off road gear isn’t gonna help me.
So I just live vicariously through threads like this.
Wow, what a crappy lift kit. It's crappy products like this that give GM and their IFS a bad name. That lift kit was never designed to do anything other than tower above shorter cars in traffic and maybe the occasional "mud bog".
I've used hand winches to get disabled cars(3000#) onto trailers, even after doubling up the line I found it difficult. I can't imagine trying to use a hand winch to actually un stuck a mired truck.
My question was does the 2500 suburban 2011+ have the same axles/ brakes as the truck 2500 2011+. It would seem it doesn’t since OP’s truck can run 16’s and my 2011+ truck cannot. Also which bolt pattern it has is at question.
For those with similar vintage 2500’s it’s important to know what...
16" wheels fit the Suburban? The pickups don't fit anything smaller than 17" starting in 2011. Is the suburban still on the old pattern 8 lug or did it go to the metric pattern 8 lug like the trucks in 2011?
What gears do you have in the new rig?
My 2011 2500 truck is getting about 14 empty all highway with the 4.10’s.(on winter gas)
The only complaint I have with the six speed is that it always tries to be in the highest gear possible and it’s too slow to downshift.
I have that progressive dynamic with the "charge wizard" for my 210ah GC setup. Lived in the trailer all last summer and now it's been sitting unoccupied, plugged in all winter MN. Seems to do fine, fingers crossed its keeping my batteries' life up.
When I had to do the brakes on my father in laws '84 plow truck I had a hell of a time. I had to heat the lug nuts red hot to loosen them and then it was about 10min per tire with a sledge hammer to loosen them up.
I need to swap my tires, it's been over the rated 45F during the day but with my 12 hours shifts I've managed to not be on the road at those times.
Here's something you don't hear people talk about when they compare midsize full size and HD trucks, weight. My stock size wheel tire combo are...
The only thing my truck hauls around lately is my set of summer tires and car parts I'm trying to sell on CL. Unless your a contractor or a landscaper aren't we all weekend warriors?
The new chevy with it's 6.6 is rated at 460 TQ, will the bigger 7.3 without DI have more torque? I hope so, and at a lower rpm.
Hopefully it'll keep up with the eco boost in the mountains.
I’ve read that a 34ish tire will fit my setup, I imagine yours is similar. Do you have the 6.0 6l90e 4.10 gears setup? I kinda still want to have mine tuned, gear changes are kinda lame sometimes.
