Finally snagged an M101CDN2: (a modest build up)

So last update, I realized my ladder rack was too high to get out the door. A chopsaw made sort work of this issue, as I cut the uprights down about 4 inches or so. Finally, the top of the tent is around 83" overall height. Still fits kayaks or bikes inside, and the annex is still usable...

Finally snagged an M101CDN2: (a modest build up)

This brings us to the present. Its home. Its fabulous. Time to go to work. Originally, my plan was to use it for the summer and then decide in the fall what I wanted to do in terms of mods. But then the day after I got it home, I did this: Nope, even my little sidekick can't believe it. I...

Finally snagged an M101CDN2: (a modest build up)

Here's part two of the story, which gives a little more history about these little gems. If you are only here for the fancy fabrication, you may find this thread sorely lacking. Sorry about that... Adventures in Trailering (Part 2): The small but mighty M101CDN2 And a sneak peek of where we are...

Finally snagged an M101CDN2: (a modest build up)

I've been wanting one of these for many years. A buddy had one, and I loved the form factor, its tough build, and its Canadian heritage. At the time I had too many projects (my wife might argue that hasn't changed), and no real justification to own one. UNTIL NOW. The back story aka...

    M101 CDN2 Build. Requesting Specifications.

Okay - I've found it, but there's a catch. Its a file in a FB group (rolleyes). I can send you the link via PM if you want, you can join, then download the pertinent file. But you'll have to promise you'll come back to update on your progress... ;)

    M101 CDN2 Build. Requesting Specifications.

I have the 120 page manual and would be happy to share. I'm pretty sure it's already hosted somewhere, but if I can't find it, we'll figure out a way to get it to you. Can't speak to the spindle but I do know that standens made the axle originally. Oh. WELCOME! Cheers Phil

1997 Pajero Evolution (Old Betsy VII)

I actually got to do something on this rig for a change! Not a big thing, but something. I recently got a Canadian military trailer, and the RTT will live on a rack on top. My Landcruiser 90 will be mostly the one towing it, but on occasion, the Pajevo would like to do some hauling, right? So...

'99 Land Cruiser 90 Series diesel (Canada - JDM import)

I tried all manner of magnets, extensions, etc, but I couldn't even get the nut started, let alone turning. It didn't help that it was a nylon lock nut. I switched to a serrated flange nut, and came at it from a different angle. By standing in front of the snorkel, and reaching back and down...

'99 Land Cruiser 90 Series diesel (Canada - JDM import)

When the dust and cigar smoke cleared, and the paint dried, I was left with this: In case you're wondering, yes, I had to also cut a quasi-rectangular hole to relocate the indicator, and no it was not a walk in the park. Also, the stud hole in the top right corner would prove to be a...

'99 Land Cruiser 90 Series diesel (Canada - JDM import)

The day had arrived. My 83mm hole saw was hungry for some sheet metal to sink its teeth into. We decided to do two snorkels at the same time: mine, and my buddy's Pajero third gen with 4m41 diesel. Cigars and beers were ready, because having a snorkel-fest without cigars would break a tradition...

Thanks Aggie! The camp chef is nice when you have limited space, for sure. The fact that the legs extend, allowing it to come out of the rig and turn into a table, is a bonus!

The tent is now off the roof of the Prado and sitting atop its permanent new home on the M101CDN2 This means my 95 inch wheelbase is no longer a cargo handicap. Next up? Getting psyched up to cut some gaping holes in the fender!

Did an oil change, and then left for Ontario to go get a Canadian Military trailer. Just now back from the trip: approximately 3400kms or so. This little 90 had absolutely zero hiccups. The airbags kept things level at about 25 psi. Fuel economy suffered a little with the RTT smacking so much...

So im all packed up and heading out in the AM on a cross Canada adventure to get my M101CDN2 trailer. That will probably get it's own thread, but for now the tent is is sitting on top. Of course we've had two thunderstorms since then, with hail yesterday. Minor thankfully, and the Prado was...

'99 Land Cruiser 90 Series diesel (Canada - JDM import)

One more update for now: right after I put my RTT on, NE Calgary had a nasty storm, complete with hail large enough to shred siding, and puncture windshields. Sheet metal made golf balls look smooth by comparison. Thankfully Airdrie and other areas west were spared this time around, but it...

Mounted this aux fuse panel behind the rear seats, to the back of my drawers. Its a little hard to get to, so I mounted a magnet to the back of it, allowing me to take it off for closer examination if needed.
