I made some steel brackets that fit into the channel in the bottom of the fridge. The metal is not very thick and they aren't crazy strong, but they keep the fridge from moving and should hold it in place in the event of an accident. The brackets on one side mount using hand screws so they are...
Adam, thank you for the pointers on the clutch drag. Once we purchase a house I'm looking forward to digging into the clutch issue further, the problem is that the local housing market is insane at the moment. The last house we wrote on had 32 offers and the winner was all cash with no...
Bigplum,
Thank you for the information. The truck does not have an EGR, and I will definitely check out the intercooler hoses to see if they have delaminated internally.

One downside of Technora is that it can't handle as tight of a bend as SK75 (Dyneema/Amsteel) can. The sheeve diameter of Technora is 16:1 compared to 8:1 for SK75, assuming a 3/8" rope this works out to minimum bends of 8" and 4" respectively before strength is significantly effected. When you...
Over the last couple of months I've made some progress with the truck. The good news is that the power steering pump was replaced with a new part from ZF and the leak is now repaired. The bad news is that after replacing the clutch master and slave cylinders and removing the clutch damper the...
What do you use the truck for?
If you go offroad on rocky trails then adding sliders is critical. You also might want to consider a stronger gas tank skid plate because the one of the 3rd gen 4runner is thin and easily bent which can leave you with a dent in your gas tank. Another option...
On Toyotas it is common for the starter contacts to get a grove worn into them to the point where they seize on the plunger, this can cause the starter to get stuck in the engaged position. I had this happen on my 4Runner and replacing the contacts fixed the issue.
Not sure if the same problem...
If you are careful with the front suspension setup then CVs aren't a big issue. I've got 3+ years of wheeling on mine and have had zero issues, though I am careful in situations where the front wheels are spinning and I'm at the steering locks.

I had a chance to dig around the truck a bit more this weekend.
The batteries are in parallel with the positive terminals are tied directly together (no isolator). The passenger side battery is grounded to a point low down on the engine block, and it's positive lead goes to the fuse block and...
Thanks! You are exactly correct, I was just commenting that it is weird that the dual batteries are the only modification other than the engine swap. The previous owner was not at all mechanically inclined and seemed to think the truck required two batteries. At initial glance it looks like the...
Definitely true for modified trucks. What is strange in this case is that the truck has no modifications other than the engine swap, and I'd be really surprised if the previous owner put in the second battery as a backup. They do make 24v auxiliaries (alternator, etc) for the 300tdi, but my...
Recently I was searching for Disco information and ran across this thread. I had completely forgotten about posting this, and was happy to see it got listed in the "so you are thinking of buying a Rover" sticky. Here's an update on my purchase...
After resisting the call of the Rover for 5 years (Rovers Anonymous) this weekend I finally cracked and turned to the oily side. Now while I wait for the RAVE manual to download, I figured I'd stand up in front of my fellow addicts and share my new journey. This post will probably get a little...
