    Types of tire chains?

I hear ya', Bravo30. That's the main reason I purchased the RUD 4x4 GRIP chains...get stuck, slap the chains on drive out of stuck situation. Well, at least most of the time...sometimes it does take a bit of winching. Cheers

    Flashing Center Diff. Lock light

The center differential light started blinking a few weeks ago. It would happen after driving at highway speeds for a sustained period of time (longer than 40 min., or so). When the vehicle was turned off, and restarted, the light would not flash. My first thought was a bad switch on the top of...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Nice project! Trackers are great little rigs...my kids both learned how to drive and turn a wrench on a '91 and '94 Tracker. The 5-speed manual is fun to drive and when you dial in the motor they will run like a champ. Nice work with the winch! Keep the snap shots coming... Cheers

    2.5 Gen Radiator

Flex-a-lite makes several universal radiators that could possibly work... they are quite pricey, but are solidly built.

    2.5 Gen Radiator

Check out CSF It looks like they make an all metal one for the '94 - '99 Montero. I put one of their all metal radiators in my kid's '86 Toyota p/u (solid product IMHO) CSF part # 3050 to replace OEM part #890951 http://csfimports.com/copper-brass-radiators/ Cheers

    Types of tire chains?

For what it's worth, you can gain some clearance by installing off set rims. (...my brother did it on his Tacoma to accommodate chains on his front wheels.)

Safe way to mount fire extinguisher in cab?

Always a good idea to have a shovel, but a 5lb. ABC extinguisher will likely cover most situation that are not already way out of control. Cheers

    Gen. III brake pads

Time to replace the rear brake shoes in the Montero. I've always used OEM shoes in the past, but was wondering what others were using from the aftermarket. What brand(s) have you tried? What was/is your experience with said aftermarket brand. Cheers

Hardware for mounting axe and shovel to roof basket?

One less piece of gear to pack and carry. However, I suppose you don't do much winter camping if this is the case. If you utilize all four seasons, you'd likely start carrying one in the chilly months. Cheers

    Types of tire chains?

I've been using RUD 4x4 Grip Chains on the Montero for years now. They get used once or twice a year off-highway. These chains can be installed without moving the rig, which is nice. However, they are not as stout as some, but this means they don't weigh as much either. I've had the chains break...

Replacing Front Wheel Bearings on Gen III

Partsouq is a great site. I have sourced parts from them many times. Another good source is Amayama, although delivery is reportedly slow from them due to the Covi. What is the spring rate for the Lovells' you purchased? Cheers

Replacing Front Wheel Bearings on Gen III

Nice! It will transform how the rig drives for sure. ...I'm curious...why are you replacing the control arms? Are they cracked or bent? These units are pretty stout and rarely need to be replaced unless they're damaged (usually from off highway driving). Are you installing the B6 shocks? Cheers

    Will this shovel stay put???

Quick Fists work a treat! I've had two for years now. One holding the shovel to the roof rack, one "large" to secure a five pound fire extinguisher inside the rig. Neither have moved at all...solid, with seemingly no degradation due to sun and weather. Cheers
