My neighbor has a Smitty 9.5 and was using it to pull logs and such while clearing some of his acreage. It pulled everything he hooked it to without hesitation....its mounted to a Jeep Liberty! I am really leaning towards this winch now.
Rhino rack still for sale. Will also trade for expo items like a Factor 55 Prolink, ARB tow strap, tree saver, winch extension, ARB 9000 snatch block, etc.
Some combo of the above is a trade.
The new Warn VR8-S is very nice and a good price point.
BUT, I love that new Superwinch EXP!
The decision process just keeps getting harder. Sounds to me like it comes down to personal preference and your wallet. How much are you willing to fork over for the features you want........
Definitely beginning to lean towards the Superwinch camp. My favorite to begin with.....
Out of curiosity, anybody here running their Tigershark series winch?
Gotta love Superwinch! That's a smokin' deal on a Talon 9.5..... I have read (not sure if it's true) that synthetic line can't be spooled on the X9? I can get a screaming deal on one locally, but really want to run synthetic for the weight savings. UV won't be as much of an issue as the winch...
My "best bang for the buck" question is centered around the best reliable winch NOT at a premium price. If it's Warn, Smittybilt, Comeup, Viking, Superwinch.....whatever. Just looking for opinions as I am a novice winch user looking for a great first winch on my Frontier. Quality doesn't have to...
Yeah, I am in the same predicament.... I just can't justify paying top dollar on a winch when there are much less expensive options that are probably just as good. I have always been a Superwinch fan, but have also been looking hard at the new Smittybilt's. I won't rule out any other options...
I have heard good things about the Smitty winches, though they no longer make an 8k winch. Was also considering the Warn m8000, Superwinch Tigershark and LP8500, the Mile Marker Scout, just to name a few. It's just so confusing.......
I realize that it's a bumper ornament 99% of the time, but...
I am in the market for a winch to install on my Frontier. What 8k-9.5k winch is the best bang for the buck? I want to make sure it's a reliable piece of equipment without breaking the bank. Which would you choose and why?
I am still thinking a pair of shackles until leaf packs can be purchased. AAL's would be good too, just concerned about DIY install on them. Trying to keep costs to a minimum currently.
Anybody use the Rough Country shackles? Pretty much a stop-gap until actual leaf packs can be purchased. Truck only has 3500 miles on current leaves.....
That's a great point. I have read about shackles eventually flattening the stock leaves. I would eventually like to replace the leaves with a set of OME leaf packs. How difficult are aal's to install? Shackles are starting to look like the better option.....
