Old Betsy #5 (Mitsu Pajero diesel build)

Thanks Jesse. Definitely loving the 2.8... the 2.5 was a good engine, but torque is nice... So here's an update on this build: Mounted a beefy class III hitch, from Valley Industries: I put Airlift 1000 airbags in the coils: For now the airlines are tucked under the rear bumper, till I...

Old Betsy #5 (Mitsu Pajero diesel build)

Oh, quick note on the name. First one, way back when, was "Old Betsy". When I got the second one, it was informally BetsyII. The name sorta stuck, so by now the fifth one, Betsy V, seems very normal to me, and very strange to most others. :sombrero: Ah well. Some things sorta just evolve...

Old Betsy #5 (Mitsu Pajero diesel build)

Batteries, CB/Stereo It does have a very beefy rear solid axle - 9.5 inch ring gear, under its coil springs....I hope this one is ready for some miles! When I got it in December it had 76k kms on it. It now has 87k kms. First mod - batteries. This truck ships with dual batts, but it never...

Old Betsy #5 (Mitsu Pajero diesel build)

I thought maybe I'd post this up here, to show others what can be done with a Mitsu platform (those of you who have mitsu's already know). Everything I post here will also be over at 4x4wire.com, in the mitsu section, which I helped create 10 years ago. If you've previously seen it there, then I...

    Random dog shots

Well, thought I would share some of Mitsukuni, aka Mitsu... When he was a pup (yes, my steering wheel is on the right, and yes, I am in Canada)

And one more... Need to get some shots of my new one in action!

That was a pointed comment, I'm afraid. Check the "Random Dog Shots" thread for pics of my four-legged Mitsu... whom Iggy knows quite well. :sombrero: Here's a random shot of my last truck, doing what it does best: Phil

    12 volt blanket - garage pre-test

Great job Iggs. We'll get to field test these things next weekend, eh? For those of you in Canada, Canadian Tire has em for $35...

    Hurray

Will they admit they know you? :sombrero: Thanks guys, for giving the Mitsu its own space. We play well with others, but some people think we're strange, taking soccer mom suv's out to play with Jeeps and Toyotas. Let them think what they like... :smiley_drive:

What did I see? Mitsu, but not a Montero/Pajero...

Pajero Junior, 95-98: Pajero Pinin / Pajero IO, 3 and 5 door variants, 98 to present. If it was "on the road", then it shouldn't be any newer than a 94, since 15 years is the cutoff for legal imports. Which leaves the Pajero/Montero... Diahatsu Rocky also looks very similar to the 2 doors...

    Sleeping in your truck!

Wow. That is a piece of work. I'm almost embarrassed to show mine, after something that polished! I wanted to be able to leave middle seat in (but folded down), and leave the bed/drawer in place when I needed the middle bench. So I came up with a folding design, which allows me to leave it all...

    Best sub $100 air compressor?

I've been running the little cheapie for three years. It lived under the hood of my last diesel, and saw all manner of conditions, with no troubles. Just put it in the back of my "new" rig, since the larger diesel I have now doesn't offer the room under the hood. Like others here, I had to do...

Thanks for the props. I really liked that one as well. The biggest difference from Betsy III to versions IV and V was that they went back to daily driver duty, since I sold my car (also a Mitsu) when I got the diesels. Since my commute is 160kms/day, I needed to make certain concessions in terms...

Outerlimits is a great site. POCUK is a great UK owners site as well. In terms of local to this continent, maybe check out my spot - 4x4wire is probably the largest single collection of Montero/Pajero owners in North America... I got the Mitsu section going about 10 years ago, so we've had lots...
