Fiamma awnings. Now is the time to buy

FWIW my F45Ti is still going strong. My only nit: Wish Fiamma made a wall kit that didn't take up an inordinate amount of cargo space.

Hard vs Soft Shell: Read World Efficiency

^ as above: Given its just two of us without children and having owned several different RTTs including fold-over and hard shells two things were a deal breaker for me with the fold-over RTT: Dealing with the cover, even atop our then AT Horizon, was a PITA; and not being able to store all...

    Partner Stoves?

Regarding the two burner: The 22" works great for normal size pans but the 18" works better for griddle work as the burners are closer together and end up with more even spread of surface temp. I had a 26" 3-burner for a while and it was the bomb for pans or griddle work but the form factor...

Heater type for Kodiak Canvas tent?

Have used our Big Buddy (18kBTU) in our 10x10 Kodiak and as others report it works great. The only time it didn't work so well, and not the fault of the Big Buddy, per se, was when on an elk hunting trip a number of years ago where I was using it to heat my then Kimberly Kamper (a little more...

    Rollercam straps

The RollerCam straps are unique and worthy; been using them since they were first available. Was told he'd intro 1.5" but never materialized. Now the website, www.rollercam.com, is defunct. But looks like someone else maybe bought the patent or is licensed to make them including loop strap...

    Springbar tents. Which one?

I wouldn't want to up & down my 10x10 Kodiak everyday; not because its difficult but more of an issue of time. Some of that has to do with the fact we use a MegaMat Duo10.

    Partner Stoves?

FWIW The Chef King handles are not "loose" but rather have enough tension on them (hinge) to stay at the angle you put them ... and not even a consideration relative to all things rattling. Their griddles are very well thought out and constructed.

    Springbar tents. Which one?

^ your large lag bolt idea might just be the ticket! Like screw anchors for ice... but affordable ;)

    Partner Stoves?

Too bad Partner doesn't utilize griddle handles like Chef King uses on their steel griddle. OTOH the Chef King carbon steel griddle is, overall, more useful cooking at home and on the trail alike for me. The hard anodized PS griddle spreads the heat from the relatively small PS stove burners...

    Partner Stoves?

You could even use a bolt instead of more expensive thumbscrews. I suggest using the longest bolt/thumbscrew the stove can store; I used 2-1/2" long thumbscrews and they give plenty of leveling ability for most normal camp use. Link to mine here...

    Springbar tents. Which one?

^ Good point about stake removal atop hard ground! I use SnowPeak stakes and while camped atop hardback in a remote backcountry spot last summer ... when it came time to take the Kodiak down I couldn't get a majority of the stakes to budge. Ended up looping 2X 5mm cord, I always carry in the...

    Springbar tents. Which one?

^ Ditto here and all things OCD and seemingly needing to re-engineer/re-design just about everything I buy :D. I suspect the Springbar faces the same issue as the Kodiak relative to the outer edge of the awning being higher in relationship to the stitched/tent side: When the outer edge of...

    Springbar tents. Which one?

Yes the awning has been worth it on my 10x10 Kodiak. Just like your intended use for your new tent we set the tent up and camp out of it for 1-3 weeks (longer if we could). While on an elk & deer hunting trip a couple years ago we had a couple gushers and even having the sagging rain water...

    SOLD!!!Propex HS200 Tent Heater Setup

Another advantage to this type of heater: You don't have the propane flame source inside the vessel. Propane (and NG) contributes considerable water vapor.

    Comfort of a RTT mattress!

So the Coastline mattress supports even side sleeping without bottoming? I love my Exped Megamats (have the single and a duo) but since adding my lovely camping partner to my forays neither mattress fits my Small Columbus.
