Aftermarket Catalytic Converter(s) for '02 Montero

Greetings, After over 230K miles, I'm considering replacing the cats. on my 2002 Montero. Currently, I'm looking for reviews/feed-back on after-market products. When rebuilding my kid's '86 Toyota Pickup, we installed a Walker system (complete with Cali. Cat.). It has met my expectations...

    89 GEN1 AW372 Manual Shaft Seal

I've used Partouq for the Montero as well as other vehicles. Why wouldn't you order the parts from them? You will receive the correct part, rather then looking for some other vehicle that "uses the same part". The delivery is "fast", often arriving in under a week.

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

PaydayGabe, Is the alternator is still the original unit? If you are thinking of replacing the unit, I'd go with a Denso. As far as battery size, I've always run a group 34 (AGM) in my Gen III. Good luck with your diagnosis.

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

No worries... The bushing refresh project is on hold at the moment while I give the VW Vanagon's rear brakes a rebuild (drums), new shoes up front, and flush the system. Only issue is, I'm buggered after work, so it's a weekend job if everything goes well. It didn't...one new brake cylinder had...

    Gramps 2.0 - Gen3 Montero Budget Build

The rig is coming together nicely! Good score at the pick-n-pull! I'm in need of a new top portion of the center console as well (broken plastic latch). If you don't want to entirely delete your antenna, you can put in a switch that will control the power antenna. I did this many years ago...

    Battery Questions

Since the diesel model Monteros are not available in the US, I'm not sure about the battery size in your NP. I'm running a group 34 AGM in my NM. However, my rig does not have big power draw...besides a few auxiliary lights, the only draw is the winch (when it's needed). Cheers

Favorite Mitsu OEM parts online dealer? (and valve lash adjusters).

I've been using https://partsouq.com for oem parts. Delivery has been good, with parts on my doorstep within five days or so. Before the pandemic, I also used https://www.amayama.com/en . (Although, I've heard they are having issues with delivery recently.) Cheers

What makes a good camp stove?

If four season camping...it's white gas for the win! I've seen folks try to light their butane stoves in sub-freezing mornings...everyone ends up using the old Coleman that I've been dragging around for decades. It has never let me down. Cheers

    Gramps 2.0 - Gen3 Montero Budget Build

While you're under the rig, you'll want to lube the shift rod on the freewheel assembly. Check out page 26-37 in the below link. When you're under the front end, you'll see a dust boot. On the driver's side there is a small tab on the end of the boot. Use this to pull the boot back to expose the...

    Gramps 2.0 - Gen3 Montero Budget Build

Since I'm still rolling with the original starter and alternator (now over 223k miles), I was looking into purchasing the two parts... Denso (remanufactured) starter: 280-4169, $117.99 through Summit The rig is looking great, Soupy! Cheers

    Gramps 2.0 - Gen3 Montero Budget Build

I believe those fasteners should be "slid" into place on the part that was removed first (should be a slot to receive it), then line everything up and it should snap in.

    Sedole's Gen 3 - the Iron Hog

Did you install oem boots on the cv joints? Many aftermarket boots are not quite large enough to accommodate the range of movement...I had the same issue with aftermarket boots. Can you "feel" that the boot is still full of grease?

    Herksute Gen 3 build thread

Rhino Rack makes some solid products, I've been very satisfied with the rails and cross bars I'm using on the Gen. 3. Are you replacing the factory cross bars? I would highly recommend it if you are not eliminating them and attaching directly to the roof rails...

2003 Montero with Lovells Springs and Koni Shock Lift

Thanks, that's what I thought with the Heavy Track. I was not able to find any information on how each adjustment changes the rebound and compression, but would be interested to know how much the adjustment will stiffen these. Cheers
