2003 Montero with Lovells Springs and Koni Shock Lift

Nice set-up! What adjustment setting did you use on the rear shocks...softest, med., or stiffest? The 82 series needs to be adjusted before installation...right?

    Roof bags?

Waterproof bags designed for river guides work great. I have two "big" dry bags...one from each of the below manufacturers. These bags "lived" on the roof rack for many family trips, in all four seasons. Often, I'll just hose the bags down at the end of the trip to get the trail dust off... they...

    Post your Mitsubishi Pajero Pics

Congratulations on the "new" rig! Extending the breather vents in the diffs., transfer case, and transmission is an inexpensive, but very worthy mod! That was one of the first things I did to the '02. I ended up using a Toyota part for the breathers (part # 90930-03136) and fuel line for the...

What makes a good camp stove?

I'm a fan of an old white gas Coleman and a Dutch Oven. ...never had drama and have used unleaded gas in the Coleman Duel Fuel while traveling out of the country (which is nice). Cheers

    Herksute Gen 3 build thread

The RRO supersliders are a nice fit. I trimmed the plastic "mud guards" for a clean transition. The skid set from ADD are nice, but you can save a few dollars by fabbing them up yourself. Below is a thread I posted years ago...

    Blundstone Boots

I've owned both Redbacks and Blundstones over the years. I would not recommend Redbacks if you have a wide foot. The Blundstones, however, are great! Very comfortable and are a nice "all-around" boot for daily work or wheeling/camping. Below is the model that I have...

    Pitchblack Rally Recce Raider Build

Great build! ...really enjoying your work and progress. 31x10.5's look great on the Gen. I...and Monstaliner is solid product. My kid's '86 Toyota p/u that we recently got back on the road has a new set of General Grabber X3 in the 31x10.5...they seem like a good compromise between an AT and MT...

    Sedole's Gen 3 - the Iron Hog

Looks like you had some fun! Too bad you didn't have an actual snatch strap or winch...you would have made quick work of the stuck rig with a winch. If you do end up getting a snatch strap, I'd suggest using a bridle on both recovery points and attaching the snatch strap to it...this spreads the...

    New must-have Dutch oven accessory?

I am a fan of the CampMaid products! I picked up the adjusting charcoal pan when they had their KickStarter for the product. Ending up getting some great accessories thrown in for a bonus by CampMaid! Quality built products IMHO.

    Thoughts: best Toyota pick up

The early to mid. 1980's 4x4 p/u's have always been a favorite. I personally like the 22R motor for simplicity. These rigs are easy to keep running well and they're a great motor for the kids to learn how to turn a wrench.

Best Aggressive All Terrain or Mild Mud Terrain Tire?

    RustOleum Spray Bedliner Experiences?

I have not used the Rustoleum product, but have had great results from Monstaliner. I used a rattle can bed liner on some rocker panels with decent results (EZ Liner). Thoroughly sanded, acetone wipe, then apply in layers... The product has adhered very well (lasted many years). The color fade...

    Wonky door locks

Get your digital multimeter, and test the actuator on the suspected lock. Look for resistance within spec. and check for power.

Best Aggressive All Terrain or Mild Mud Terrain Tire?

One of the main concerns, in my opinion, is the sidewall construction of a tire used off-pavement. Personally, I look for a 3-ply sidewall. I've seen tires with "weak" sidewall construction not stand up to the demands of off-pavement driving. Cheers

    Montero 3rd gen radio install

Best of luck sorting out the wiring issues... I've installed numerous systems into our various vehicles and I always purchase systems from Crutchfield. ...look up the year/make/model of your rig, and they will have a prewired connection. ...plug it into the stereo and the factory harness, and...

    New Gen3 Montero owner (Alberta)

Welcome aboard! I too had that code several years ago... The culprit turned out to be a small o-ring on the fuel pump assembly. I pulled the fuel pump and replaced the o-ring on one of the connections and swapped in a new filter while I had it out. I can't recall which connection had the bad...
