    Storage Box Efficiency

Nice, I like that. I'm always aware of which of my bins have tapered sides (nesting, great for shipping big stacks of items to the store, bad for maximizing interior volume vs. footprint). Since so many of us spend so much time being short on space, this seems like an important metric to keep...

Advice on using campground fire ring grill

Well aware, Jed! Your vids are how I found the whole kit, and I'm smitten. The only negative for me is that I'm sure shipping to California will be crippling. ;-)

Advice on using campground fire ring grill

I love the idea of that thing, but in reality I think it's a bust for me. Aside from the fact that my tire is still under the chassis, you can't adjust the height of the grilling surface at all. For myself, I'm seriously considering investing in something like the Roadii firegrill because it...

Is this a new trend? RTTs on rental mini vans...

And here's why: BM closed on Day 1 (and probably 2) due to rain turning the whole thing into a muddy mess: http://boingboing.net/2014/08/25/burning-man-rained-out-closes.html

InssssssssVANity!!!!!!!......or ****** did I just fly to Maine to by a Sprinter!

Yeah, the prices seem exorbitant until you've done one for yourself. Suddenly the idea of writing a big check doesn't seem so bad to me!

Changing a flat tire on a Chaser

I carry the Bogert Safe Jack bottle jack stuff for my rig. Would work great for a trailer as well

    Low-Profile roof boxes?

Looks like a great box for some applications, but it doesn't really fit my criteria at all. It's 5” taller than the current solution, but more importantly it loads from the sides. I'd need an eight foot ladder to get into it. Still hoping to fun something I can access by standing on the rear...

    1973 STEYR PUCH Pinzgauer- 712 Firetruck, US$: 21900.00

Me too! If you're feeling the need to have a Subaru-powered Steyr-Puch design, just find a Syncro VW and do that swap. :D

They're air-cooled alright, but inline, not flat. I imagine you'd have an easier time retrofitting watercooling and just about any modern longitudinal I-4 EDIT: I've also seen an older BMW I-6 Diesel in a Pinz...

Help me figure out my house battery system...

Normally this tends to indicate that the voltage is sagging under a load. Are you using the control wire to drive the solenoid coil directly? IIRC, a normal 12V solenoid (like the Cole Hersee 200A unit I use) has a coil resistance of ~18ohm, which means there should only be ~670mA or so...

    Overland Expo: Kite Aerial Photography

Thought I'd post up a couple of new images from this weekend's SoCal meet-n-greet. I was just starting to fly the rig and shoot aerial photos when the local rangers showed up. It turns out their visit was unrelated, but I started the process of taking down the rig before I knew that, so I only...
